Fixing Guard Break and Jumping Attacks for controller users
By Узник Узбекистана
As you have noticed, PC controls in DS2 are kinda borked. Making Guard Break or Jumping attack with gamepad is almost imposible. Most people suggest bind some hotkeys on your controller with some 3rd party software like x360ce, but nobody notice that Steam has exact same functionality and more. I will explain this process in this step by step guide.

Check Steam controller settings
First thing first we need to check that Steam configured to use controller. Click "Steam" in top left corner -> "Settings" -> "Controller" -> "General Controller Settings"

If you are using Xbox Controller (or any xinput compatible, like mine F310), enable "Xbox Configuration Support". For PS controllers it is "PlayStation Configuration Support" and "Generic Gamepad Configuration Support" for old or cheap dinput conrollers.

Close that window, right click the game in library -> "Preferences" -> "Controller"
Make sure you have "Use default settings" or "Force Enable" selected.

Create new layer
Now open controller layout for game. "Conroller layout" on game page or right click -> "manage" -> "Controller layout".
Click "Edit Layout"

It the bottom left corner select "Action Sets". Click gear icon near "Default".

"New layer". Name it whatever you want
Configure new layer
Now go to "Buttons" section. Click gear icon near button "A" -> "Add sub command"

Click this new sub command. Go to "Action sets" tab, select "Hold Action Set Layer"

Select your new layer, confirm.

Now on top left corner switch to new layer.

In Buttons section, click gear icon for "RB" -> "Add sub command"
Set this Sub command to "Left Stick Up"

In Triggers section change Right trigger "Soft pull" to "Right trigger", add sub command for "Left Stick Up" (or vice versa)

Done. Now you can do Guard breaks or jumping attacks by holding A button and pressing RB or RT

@Cassiopeia, I uploaded a sample layout, search for "Guard break".

I just tried setting this up and RB and RT almost always trigger the guard break or jump attack without me holding the A button, which ends up overriding the normal light and heavy attack instead of switching between uses. Not sure if I made a mistake somewhere, I followed the steps exactly.
