Retractable Solar Array

Description
Here's a retractable solar array using the extendable scissor arms. You can retract and secure them in case of emergency (ie meteor shower) or when they're not needed. You could also construct hangars around them for further protection.

For ships, you can use it like a solar sail. You can unfurl the solar array and let it recharge the ship batteries, then stow it back for safe transport/flying.

I wish this was an actual block instead of a bunch of rotors and such.

That's not to say I am not impressed, but it'd be nice to have a block to place and it looking and working seamlessly!

+1 about destroying. Please make a blueprint.

The rotors destroy the mechanism on mission load.

Why even bother with this. The only thing is actual solar panels that can retract themself like in KSP, evrething else is bullshit

@MK84, this is an amazing project you have completed! I've enjoyed it through your video as sadly, the project does not work due to the various updates for SE. I've tried recreating it per the tutorial you've provided without resolve. Looking foreward to seeing your Version 2 soon!

nice idea! pity that the rotors start shaking incontrollablly when retracted... increasing the rotor displacement helps a little but doesn't solve the issue. You can always max out the rotors breaking torque and turn them off once retracted that works for now, until they braek that too at least.
