More Birds - Conures!

Description
This mod brings several species of conures to the rim as pets and prey!

Playful, colorful, attention-loving birds that will hop and flutter about your colony nuzzling your colonists and making them laugh and chuckle with their goofy antics.

They have dedicated sprites for flight and will use their wings to attempt to flee from threats like a good birb should!

Flocks of conures are native to Tropical Rainforest and Tropical Swamp biomes, and infrequently range out to Temperate Forest, Temperate Swamp, and Arid Grassland biomes to forage for food. They are flocking animals and spawn in small groups. They can be trained to follow masters and even attack, however due to their small size they won't be much help in combat.

Conures are a diverse, loosely defined group of small to medium-sized parrots originally native to rainforests, swamps, and fields of Central and South America and sometimes referred to as New World Parrots. They are considered the 'clowns' of the parrot world due to their playful attitudes, constant attention seeking behavior, hanging and swinging upside down or swaying and dancing antics.

The original inspiration for this mod was Junco's wonderful BIRD UP! series of mods but ultimately came to life thanks to Zeitloser's Birds Beyond series. A HUGE credit to Zeitloser for his Birds Beyond Framework and giving me a place to start with XML help.

Also credit to my Green Cheek Conure, Mouse, for making me want to include him in the game and sparking this whole mod-making adventure

  • Must be loaded after Harmony and Birds Beyond Framework.
  • Should be compatible with pretty much anything (let me know any issues so I can do my best to fix).
  • Sounds are currently placeholders, provided by and used with permission of Zeitloser. I am working on finding or sourcing accurate conure calls to use.
  • IRL tame conures are very loyal to their humans and escape is only a risk if a bird feels mistreated. To reflect this in game they don't require pens or fencing, only allowed zones.
  • They are currently 'intermediate' trainable because they can and do follow owners, but due to changes to trainability mechanic the ability to attack is lumped in with follow master. It's a bit unrealistic that conures can be used as attack birds but until the game's code is changed there's nothing I can do.
  • I intentionally made them lay eggs very slowly, and very infrequently. They provide very little meat and leather. Their value is in their nuzzle frequency. I didn't want them to be like chickens constantly squirting out eggs but also nuzzle as often as a cat. Balance requires sacrifice. :(

If you like this mod please give it a thumbs up and favorite!

While not a dependency per se, I highly recommend something like Camera+ that will let you zoom in much closer to the birbs to enjoy their color and cuteness.

Thank you, though much of the credit for that goes to Zeitloser's framework. It allowed me to just drop in the sprites and the XMLs for the animals and it does all the magic of making them fly! If you're interested in more flying birds be sure to check out his mods as well. :)
