SeaBoss Systems (SBS) STALKER Mk.1 Attack Jet - JAEGER Loadout (LEGACY)

***LEGACY - No further updates expected. STALKER has been replaced by the new JAEGER platform
https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3003245205

The STALKER is a medium sized multi-role Attack Jet hosting 10 flexible Hardpoints (8 for weapons, 2 for weapons or fuel pods) and a integrated Light AC with 400 HE Rounds. The Hardpoint System automatically polls all attached Weapons and will group them by type for firing preference. On the pull of the trigger the system has intelligence to determine the action required (ex. Rocket Pods and Cannon Pods are not launched but a fire command is passed through). With an internal fuel tank of 6200 litres it has a range of ~200km on MED throttle which can be extended with the addition of Fuel Pods.

The loadout in this package is called the JAEGER (4 Laser Guided Missiles, 4 RADAR Guided Missiles, 2 Heavy Autocannon Pods). The possible combinations are unlimited and I will be releasing weapons packages in the near future (ex. Bomblet Rack, Cannon Pods, Rocket Pods, Large/Med/Small Fuel Pods). The system is capable of hosting the SARDINE Missile and a slightly augmented version of the HOBS Laser Missile (currently mounted with the JAEGER). In a Gunslinger package I was able to mount 6 Heavy Auto-cannon Pods. A single pull and anything short of a cruiser will disappear, a cruiser takes about 2 salvos.

FEATURES:
  • 10 flexible hardpoints to allow for mission customisations.
  • MAIN MFD including displays for SYS (ENG/FUEL/BAT), LDO (Load Out), MAP (Buunu's moving map with AP Info, RDR (360'), GMB (FLIR style with onscreen controls including Laser Targetting integration) and ENV (Weather).
  • Flight Controller based on a heavily augmented version of the ZE Flight System including AP and Altitude Hold (AH). Two control modes are possible: Keyboard and Mouse (MS on HUD Status Bar)
  • In Flight SPEED BRAKE system which will suppressed the exhaust allowing for quick slow downs. Think Cobra Maneuver.
  • Standard SBS Multi-band Radio System
  • HUD with Parallax corrections
  • Ground Anchor System to secure STALKER when parked
  • EJECTION system - Hold the eject button for 1 second and the sequence to eject the canopy followed by the seat will be initiated. NOTE: there are no parachutes on the seat. Grab one from the handy equipment locker that spawns with the plane.
  • RADAR Detector and Flare Countermeasures
  • Throttle preset system with 8 settings... STX(Slow Taxi), FTX(Fast Taxi), DSC(Descent), APR(Approach), MED, HGH, MAX, AFTB (Afterburner). Throttle can also be controlled using up and down keys.

CONTROLS:
  • W/S - Pitch
  • A/D - Roll (active also in Mouse Mode)
  • LEFT/RIGHT - Yaw / Ground Steering
  • UP/DOWN - Manual Throttle Controls +/-
  • 1 - WEAPONS - Switch to Next Weapons
  • 2 - COUNTERMEASURES - Deploy Flare
  • 3 - MOUSE MODE On/Off (MS on Status Bar)
  • 4 - THROTTLE PRESET DOWN
  • 5 - THROTTLE PRESET UP
  • 6 - BRAKES (Holding for 3 seconds on ground will deploy Parking Brake - PB on Status Bar)

Quick Start to get you flying...
  1. On spawn you will notice that the canopy is open. There are no buttons required to open or close. If a pilot is not detected in seat the canopy will be open. As soon as you take a seat it will close.
  2. On the left front of the pilot there is an ENGINE PANEL. Turn on the switch to start the Engines. Give them about 5 seconds to spool up.
  3. Hit Key 6 to release the parking brake. The 6 key also controls the variable brakes. If the 6 is pressed for about 3 seconds the parking brake will be initiated. NOTE: when brakes are active the thrust spoiler is activated eventually turning off thrust, this will happen both on the ground in the air.
  4. Hit Key 5 to cycle up through the throttle settings. On Afterburner (AFTB) you should be able to get airborne very quickly.
  5. To go in to mouse mode (MS on Status Bar) hit 3. Now point where you want to go and use roll to your advantage as pitching, not yawing, will give you the best turn rate.

Landing...
NOTE: the STALKER uses a variable brake system on the back wheels for ground steering. This makes the landing gear very sturdy.
  1. Line up with runway with your throttle set to APR (47%). APR gives you just enough power to remain level.
  2. Once you are ready to land back the throttle to DSC(43%). This will cause the STALKER to start descending even when you have the noise just above the horizon.
  3. On touchdown dial the throttle down as far as you want for taxing and push the nose down. Apply brake by tapping the 6 key.

Thanks for your comment, Omega. With the Stalker it's pretty "packed" when it comes to controller placements. One thing in particular is that the flight controller is located pretty close to the rear of the pilot. The AI seems to aim for the pilot and if you are moving faster the rounds seem to land just aft of the pilot... and put holes through the flight controller. It's a big controller block with not many places to put it unfortunately. The engines may get hit as well but I think the biggest culprit is damage to the flight controller.

This thing crashes if it gets shot at most twice in the engine which is pretty okay i guess?
but good overall

Hi thatcoolcat1, thanks for the tip. I had considered that. :) I had choosen to go with Sensor returns from the missiles themselves as I want to make the hardpoint system more modular.
As a result it would dependent on the capabilities of the loadout as opposed to what the "carrying platform" was packing. I had some more plans for it such as radar returns from seeker heads... I've just run out of steam for the game. I've uninstalled Stormworks and I'm not sure on when I may return.

tip: you dont need a constant on to the seeker head to know if it has target lock. you can just put a laser sensor on your own vehicle and use that. bit more elegant solution.

Just as note.. Pitch is a bit more aggressive in Mouse Mode since there is a bit more "analog input" consideration (like in a joystick or HOTAS).

Thanks for the comment, HalfWayDone. I made a conscience decision to limit the pitch and roll to make the STALKER a bit more "controllable". I've found that there a lot of planes on the Workshop where the pitch is so aggressive its bouncing. For the STALKER my goal was to make something that was relatively forgiving to fly. It's not the fastest and the nimblest but I'm hoping people find it controllable... because putting ordinance on target is important. :)

Amazing plane but could use more aggressive pitch control but I don't know anything

Thanks for the heads-up, krifee2004. Originally that composite block was for fuel control and had the option to drop tanks beyond just using the loadout screen. It appears I forgot to remove the composite hook up to the drop options in the fuel controller. I'll fix that shortly.
