This mod changes the texture of the goats.


DISCLAIMER

The color change happens only to newly spawned animals.

Due to Kenshi mechanics, goats already in player faction do not get the hair color data needed to make the new texture to blend with the body. They will get the texture, which will appear light grey.

Because Kenshi saves hair color data in the platoon (squad), even importing will not fix this. There is no way I can fix this from this end.

To see this change with the needed color data for all your animals you have to begin a new game. Import won't help. The other option is to manually edit your platoon save to give the hair color to your goats.

Naturally you can also just have your 'old' goats have grey hair tufts and the newly bought goats be dark colored.

LOAD ORDER
Load after any other mod, that alters goats. Like animal animations.

FAQ
Q: Why not make the texture to be brown? Why make it grey and apply color later? Would this not have been the fix?

A: How I wish that was possible. Unfortunately hair textures, any hair be it animal or human, is treated in this interesting way: Kenshi only reads one channel of it. Either Red, Blue or Green and each is a grey-scale image. They are a color image only when combined together.

We have no option in FCS to force Kenshi to read all three, (which would be marvelous), so all we modders have for hair is grey texture you need color applied afterwards. It is amazing for human hair, as you only need one .dds file and you get a different texture on each channel, making it three-in-one. It is good for reducing texture load in game. And you can keep adding however fancy hair colors you want, pinks, blues even purple. But horrible when you just want to change the texture on animal hair and make it match the skin.
