Children Learn Slow

Description
This mod decreases how fast children learn skills, which **increases** overall difficulty.

Specifically intended to be used with 100% child growth rate difficulty settings (Default is 400%, where children age 4x as fast as adults).

**Not** intended for a normal playthrough unless you like suffering.

Modifies Global Learning Factor for children, pre-teens and teens so that they learn skills slower. This is a global modifier on top of traits, genetics, backstories, and passions. Safe to add mid-play and safe to remove mid-play.

Global Learning Factors as follows:

- Babies (Age 0 - 3) = 0% (babies cannot learn anyway)
- Children (Age 3-8) = 25%
- Pre-Teenagers (Age 9-12) = 50%
- Teenagers (Age 13-17) = 75%
- Adults (Age 18+) = 100% (Unaffected)

Examples:

Child with Burning Passion = 38% learning rate (vs adult 150%)
- 100% base
- 150% for burning passion
- 25% global modifier for child

Pre-Teenager with Passion = 50% learning rate (vs adult 100%)
- 100% basevalue
- 100% for passion
- 50% global modifier for preteen

Teenager with Too Smart (or Fast Learner) and Burning Passion = 197% (vs adult 262.5%)
- 100% base
- 150% for burning passion
- 131% for Too Smart + Teenager (175% x 75%)

Neanderthal Child with NO passion and Slow Learning - 2.2% learning rate (vs adult 8.8%)
- 100% base
- 35% for NO passion
- 6.2% for Slow Learner + Child (25% x 25%)

I didn't know that growth points automatically scaled with the ageing settings, that solves my concerns. Thanks!

Learning/growth points are modified by the storyteller settings. It scales with age factor.

If you want to modify global learning factor of pawns, including children, I'm sure those mods exist. You could also just force all pawns to have some kind of fast learning trait and all passions.

Any idea where I could find the inverse of this as a mod?

I want to do a generations style playthrough with the aging settings cranked up, and I'm concerned the Biotech based kids wont get enough growth points & skill training to keep up, because of the lesser amount of days they stay a kid. I just can't find anything that messes with the amount of learning/growth points a kid gets so far.

Fixed. Child and Teen pawns with Slow Learner can now learn skills again, albeit extremely slowly.

So I discovered that if a child or teenager has a Slow Learning trait, it will take their ability to learn to zero.

I'll try to find a balance so that it never hits zero, but in the mean time, avoid using slow learning children with this mod if you actually want skill gain.
