M557 APC (Colonial Marine Corps.)

Description
ATTENTION!: As of the update that broke the mods folder, and subsequent port to Steam Workshop for mods submissions, this model is broken. When I get a chance to actually take the time to rebuild it, I will update this again. Thanks for your patience.

------

This is the M557 Armoured Personnel Carrier from the second Alien movie "Aliens". It is using the AAA Mods pack items, some of which include blocks (the entire structure of the body for example) from SC's modified block pack, and a small ship open cockpit seat for the driver.

The M557 seats 12 including the driver, so feasibly, a squad of 8, plus tech, driver, commander and tactical officer. < Unfortunately due to the space constraints of adding in a retracting turret, space for 1 has been scrapped and seating is down to 11.> Currently, it drives like crap, and I'm still WIP with it, so need to figure out why everytime I turn the wheels, it bounces, and why it seems to take forever to spool up to speed. Also, careful of turning when at speed, it will tend towards rolling. It is currently outfitted with 6 artificial mass blocks, 4 mid-ships, and one center of each transaxle.

In its current state, the forward turret is non-functional and it is still missing it's aft turret, but that's something I'll be working on shortly. Stay tuned for updates.

If you want to work on it, or drive it, and experiment with it, you may need the AAA mod-pack (available on the SEMODS forums - http://semods.com). However, it is fully copy/paste capable, so I'd suggest copying it, then going to one of your own ground vehicle testing grounds to play with it. It's currently sitting in a 'lone survivor' world in creative mode.

The miniature armored thruster engines sticking out of the left side are only for show, you probably don't want them active. They are for detail of the exhaust venting from the turbine.

At any rate, I think that about covers it, if you like it, or have suggestions on how I can fix my copy of it so it drives smooth and doesn't want to flip when I corner, feel free to comment or even just critique it if you like.

M557 baby, no other more badass troop hauling piece of hardware anywhere, oorah!. :-)

--> Edit: New vehicle added to world. This one started as the other, but I ripped the top off and got to work on the upper turret. Hopefully, we will get some sort of interface that will allow direct control of aiming turrets on rotors, eventually. Or, I'll manage to come up with some epiphany on making that happen, but I'm relying on the devs, not sudden flashes of brilliance, lol. In any case, it drives the same... You kinda have to wiggle the wheels back and forth while pressing W or S to get it moving. Don't wiggle too drastically, just little quick wobbles back and forth. Not sure why it doesn't have any oomph to go without bobbling it. Also, don't turn sharp at speed. 1st world problems.

In any case, I did figure out, if it starts to go belly up, turn sharply into the direction of the roll and let off the throttle. This seems to help it resettle. Definitely not built for speed.

As always, feel free to critique (constructively) and hopefully you'll enjoy the vehicle, even if only to create a scene that's mostly static. I'll keep working with it and figure out what precisely is needed to get it to actually drive the way it should.

Side note: It is left as four wheel drive and four wheel steering because that is precisely how the M557 operates. However, you may find it performs better disabling the rear wheel steering. I should make groups for that purpose, but haven't yet. In any case, enjoy.

This vehice may work well with the excellent UD-4L "Cheyenne" by DDSSTT. You can find his awesome dropship, and accompanying APC here: http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=289019185
