Beskrivning
This is a module for the More Sensible Tweaks series of mods aiming to make the game more realistically plausible and less railroaded, with this instance in particular aiming for secondary planetary biomes.

What This Does
Every planet in Starbound generates based on a "primary" biome encompassing most of the planet. Each primary biome has a list of other biomes that may generate as "secondary" biomes or "micro"-biomes. Unfortunately, because of Starbound's highly railroaded nature, the list of secondary biomes that may generate were also highly railroaded, resulting in some (micro)biomes that would perfectly suit certain biomes being nowhere to be found within them.

This mod seeks to amend this by giving the vanilla planets a more "sensible" array of secondary and microbiomes that may spawn in them, prioritizing realism whenever possible over progression.

Here is a full list of changes:

  • "Strikethrough" means it's a vanilla biome that was removed from spawning by this mod;
  • "Italic" means it's a biome that was added a chance to spawn by this mod;
  • "*" means it's a mini-biome.

Known Issues
Because this mod prioritizes realism over progression, and was created specifically to be used with a mod that removes the game's railroaded progression (specifically, Story Disabler), naturally it may cause progression issues if not used alongside Story Disabler, doubly-so if used with a mod that adds onto the vanilla game's progression.

Compatibility
This mod is compatible with - and inspired by - TrueSpace, which I recommend to use with this mod. It is also compatible with mods that add their own planets (such as Maple32 and Ancient Cosmos), but they may override this mod's secondary biomes' spawn chances.

Not likely to be compatible with Frackin' Universe. At the very minimum it will break its progression.

So to clarify, this mod doesn't necessarily require SD, but it is balanced around SD?

@cutieryan It's the Foundry mini-biome. It's still referred to as Rust in the code, I think. Re-implementing the old Rust biome would be out of scope for this mod :p

Looking at the secondary biome list for Decayed, I noticed one mini-biome called "Rust."

Is this referring to the Foundry mini-biome, or did you manage to add the old Rust mini-biome from the beta days back into the game? (the one that Foundry replaced)

Yes, I personally use such mods too (Maple32 specifically). Not sure about FU though.

Hey, does this mod work with mods that add more biomes or mini-biomes to vanilla planets?

oke, thank you 👍

It'll work without it, but it will probably mess with your game's balance. It was balanced around SD specifically, not vanilla or FU.
