Exo's Amphibious Sub

Description
COMPLETED VERSION NOW AVAILABLE:

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2882308129

Original version:

Largely a prototype vehicle, but essentially an amphibious, diesel submarine. It automatically and seamlessly detects and transitions from land to water mode.

The vehicle has separate tanks for both air and exhaust, allowing it to function while underwater for a period of time. The higher the throttle limit is set, the more quickly it will use the air or fill up the exhaust tanks.

USAGE:

1) Enter through the top of the vehicle by pressing the "cycle airlock" button and then standing on the platform. It will descend into the vehicle after a couple of seconds and allow you inside.

2) Enter the far left seat at the front and press '1' to start the vehicle.

3) WASD to drive and up/down arrows to pitch up and down in the water. You can trim the pitch using Alt-Up/Down-Arrow until the vehicle travels straight while underwater, otherwise it will constantly want to surface.

OPTIONAL: Adjust throttle limit with throttle to right of pilot seat. Maxing it out will give you a LOT of power and speed, but will eat fuel much more quickly. I recommend lowering it while exploring underwater to reduce the air/exhaust tank usage.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

If you go too deep and completely fill the exhaust tanks, the engine will stall because the pumps are not strong enough to pump the exhaust out - you'll have to wait until the vehicle floats closer to the surface to start it back up.

This thing is fast, but eats fuel like it's going out of style. It can hit 50 m/s (110 mph) on land and 35 m/s (80 mph) on water and 30 m/s (65 mph) underwater for short periods of time.

The airlock functions, but will refuse to open until all the water has been removed from it. So, if it won't open, just wait a second for it to finish removing the water (which will only happen when the vehicle is not under deep water). Due to this issue, I've disabled the ballast tanks to prevent you from sinking into deep water and being unable to get out.

Since this was mostly a proof-of-concept, I've added some basic gear inside, but it's largely unfinished.

@ASTRO - Uh, no lol. This is the original that my second version was made off of.

@Calen - That's actually already in my next release of this vehicle. Except the next version is also going to fly; one vehicle that can go anywhere and do anything is the goal.

Still a work-in-progress though.

Idea for making airlock work under any depth: Instead of pumping the water from airlock to the ocean, pump it between airlock and ballast tanks. No issues with pressure, and no fluctuation of buoyancy.

Hah - never used it long enough to put more fuel in it, so there's not a fuel port. I guess I can put one in somewhere.

how to refuel it?

its so cool could you try create weapons on it

Hah, I looked it up. I guess it's similar, but mine uses diesel engines, can go underwater, and is a lot less laggy for multiplayer (due to less moving parts).

Still a cool creation though. I like that thing's cockpit a lot.
