How to fix FPS problem in Fallout 4

If you faced with the FPS problem in Fallout 4, follow steps described below:

1. Open directory - \steamapps\common\Fallout 4 and open Fallout4_Default.ini file.
2. Find in this file "iPresentInterval=1" and change it to 0, as a result you should have "iPresentInterval=0".
3. Open Documents - My Games - Fallout 4.
4. Open directory documents/my games/fallout4/ and find Fallout4Prefs.ini and Fallout4.ini files.
5. Do the same as in 2 step. Find "iPresentInterval=1" and change it to 0, as a result you should have "iPresentInterval=0".

The problem was in built-in VSync. Now you don't have FPS lock.

What if your game speed changed ?

Now, after you fix the problem with low FPS, you have another problem - your FPS is too big, that's why your game speed is also too high. To fix this problem, you need to download Nvidia Inspector and turn on the FPS Limit (Frame Limiter) in Fallout 4. Congrats! You are hacker.

how is 165 frames unplayable? i had to deal with a good 5 fps

mine runs it at 165 frames which makes it unplayable with both dialogue and movment speed/combat

The AMD equivalent to nvidia is AMD Catalyst Control Center.

p.s I tested this with DSR at 2880x1800 res (about 3K ish) and was still smooth. My native res is 1440x900 but play most games at DSR 1920x1200 (16:10 ratio monitor).
Hope this helps.
I am running vanilla game silky smooth on ALL ULTRA and only had a few drops in the Diamond City Market place.

running the basegame here (no DLC... yet) and as far as I can tell, the community patch requires the DLC.

This is one of them games like erm TOmbRaider Underworld that seem to break with free running frame rates. My rig will run this at 60 or 75 fps but daytime and Ultra God Rays give me drops, so...

If you have a monitor that is higher than 60hz you can try this (it doenst matter about refresh rate but 60hz will limit you to 30 with this trick) - Nvidia Control Panel - Vsync - ADAPTIVE HALF REFRESH RATE. For me at 75hz I get a solid 37.5fps and with everything on ULTRA on - GTX1050Ti 4GB (asus) and INTEL i3 9100F (3.6ghz with 4.2ghz T-Boost).
