Designate Heir - freely

Description
Designate your heir freely from your close/extended family and dynasty at any authority level for no cost at any time. Includes memories and opinions.

ABOUT
Replaces the vanilla designate heir character interaction in the diplomacy menu.

You can designate any member of your close family, extended family or your dynasty as your heir. The cost is free and can be done under any level of authority right from the start of the game.

You, your previous heir, your new heir and your children will all have a memory of your action, and all of them will have an opinion of you, either positive or negative depending on which side of the designation they are.

COSTS
While the default mode is free of charges, you can change the mod's game rule to implement vanilla prestige and influence costs if you prefer to be charged for the action.

NOTE
AI cannot break vanilla rules.
Administrative governments have to abide by vanilla administrative rules, so noble families can only choose close family members.

Compatibility
Ironman = yes

Also not compatible with any other mod that changes the vanilla designate heir interaction. So if one of the mods you already use like a cheat mod for example replaces the vanilla designate heir character interaction, then place this mod after it in the load order.

WARNING
There appears to be a bug in game atm that causes a CTD if you attempt to assign any parent or grandparent as your designated heir, so DO NOT DO THAT. You have been warned!

@Tianqi
Sounds like you have a mod conflict.

Create a new playset with only DHF in it, then start a new game with that playset and test the mod out. If the problem still persists then tell me what your ruler' gender, culture, faith and primary title and other titles are.

everytime i designate an heir, immediately after it changes back and says they are no longer my heir and goes to my oldest born

@BBB
AI does use this mod but only the player can set anyone as their heir.

There is a game rule to optionally apply costs for the interaction.

hope there would be some game rules and if it can be set to allow ai also to use it

The mod works as per vanilla, I can't guarantee it works in TC mods.
I've never played AtE so have no idea of any restrictions they have on titles and heir relationships.

@Lost Nomad It's in the After the End mod, it's a custom empire I made of the Kingdom of Big Sky. I'm a few hundred years into the playthrough and it's worked perfectly fine until now and I didn't change any succession laws.

@Zippinhead
Need more details than that, like what is the empire title, are there any mitigating succession laws like elective laws on the title?
Zippinhead 6 Aug @ 5:05am
When I designate an heir, they're only becoming heir to my head of faith title. My oldest child remains heir to the Empire. Any idea why that's happening?
