MES Keen Space Exploration

Description
This unofficial mod for Modular Encounters adds in grids used by Keen in trailers and worlds added with updates that will spawn in a normal game.

The mod adds 3 factions to a game; Keen Space Exploration (KSE), Keen Blue Team (KBT), and Keen Red Team (KRT). All 3 factions are hostile to the player, and the blue and red teams will fight each other using RivalAI from MES. I have tried to set it up in a way that the factions will broadcast chat messages and interact with each other to a point but I'm still new to RivalAI (The Red and Blue teams will fight each other if they get close enough).

The only credit for the grids I claim in this mod is the modifications to make them work with MES, and the Blue Dropship which is my own design as there wasn't really one from recent updates. All of the grids included are either available from the Keen Official workshop on steam, or from in game scenarios added through updates (Other than the Red Frigate 2021 from Smokki's sceario).

The Grids used to create this mod are:

- Red Frigate 2021 from Smokki's Scenario.
- Red Frigate 2022 from the Asteroid Armoury Scenario in game.
- Red Corvette from the Keen steam workshop.
- Red Dropship from the Asteroid Armoury Scenario.
- Red Fighter from the Keen steam workshop.
- Blue Frigate from the Asteroid Armoury Scenario.
- Blue Corvette from the Keen steam workshop.
- Blue Dropship, my own design.
- Blue Fighter from the Asteroid Armoury Scenario.
- Industrial Dropship (with beacon and fixed air pressure for hangar) from the Pertam Exploration Scenario in game.
- Industrial Station from the Pertam Exploration Scenario in game.
- Industrial Outpost from the Pertam Exploration Scenario in game.
- Industrial Landing Pads from the Pertam Exploration Scenario in game.
- Industrial Habitat from the Pertam Exploration Scenario in game.
- Chunks of the Argyre Basin Outpost from the scenario on the Keen steam workshop.
- Chunks of the Asteroid Armoury base from the scenario in game.
- The shuttle from the Sparks of the Future scenario in game.

All of the grids have been configured to work as individual ships/stations where needed, with extra hulls, antennas, etc. as needed, and I have tried to maintain the same feel of the structures where possible. All ships are space only spawns, but there are bases for planets. Red and Blue team factions only have ships.

I made this as I wanted to be able to find some of the more recent official creations in game as I play without being restricted to individual scenarios. Some of the behaviours for MES don't seem to work quite as intended at the moment, some of the targeting and escorting, but this doesn't impact the game play of the mod.

Any thought on adding rovers and planet bases to the Red and Blue factions? I feel this would give a proper faction war feel to planets.

Thanks for the continued interest. I'm generally a solo player, when I have time to play, so when I create these mods, part of it for me is to help reduce the overall resource grind in a new game so that I can enjoy some building and combat. The "free salvage" is included with this aim, but if you or someone else doesn't want to use those spawns, they can be blacklisted in MES. The spawns are spawned without a faction as "nobody" which is why they end up as free salvage. You could take it and rebuild it, take it and break it down or use it for target practice, or leave it / delete it.

I have been testing it , It works fine but I don't understand why I keep seeing an abandoned blue frigate. I just keep stealing them and getting free salvage :D

Haven't tested it but seems like a fun expansion mod that adds the neat Keen ships, and the updated versions that other mods that do "already have" these ships don't have! Will try it out. :p2cube:

While I have not tested this, the Crew Enabled mod claims to crew NPC ships and stations spawned by MES without further configuration for any NPC factions. I don't know if this applies to custom NPC factions configured for mods like MES, but as read on the site I think it should work. Try it out and let me know, if it needs to be updated, I can look into it when I get the chance.

I don't use mod.io sorry, but if someone wants to upload it onto mod.io, you're welcome to. Just be sure to make a note of any changes you make to the mod before uploading it and that while it is my mod, that I'm not the one uploading it to mod.io.
