All credit for creating the class goes to S-Purple. Make sure to check out their other mods (and the Cataphract itself if you don't already have it) as they do good work.

This mod should be compatible with everything that the Cataphract itself is compatible with.

WHAT I CHANGED

It's very simple: I changed the values on the Cataphract's heals to be equivalent to the Vestal's.

I understand that the reasoning for it having greater variance is because the class can do some good damage if you slot him in your backline. But, I found that it disincentivized me from running him as a solo frontline healer due to this heavy variance in healing much the same way that running an Occultist as a solo healer would. To be fair, the Cataphract can't roll a 0 heal like the Occultist and he does have that AoE heal so I found him preferable as a frontline healer, but just not as comfortable as my dream of a 'solo frontline healer' should've been when compared to the Vestal.

In my opinion, the fact that the heals can only be launched from position 1 is enough of a balance to justify the heals being as strong as a Vestal's. Yes, the class is very mobile and can easily get back to first position in a single turn if he does get shuffled, but any sort of movement from the very front will deny you a turn of heals. Not to mention that this restriction on only being able to heal from position 1 also restricts your viable party comps. High mobility characters that like to shift up to the front aren't optimal as it will shift your healer out of position for a turn and potentially deny you from being able to heal if some big damage comes in after the move. Compare that to a Vestal that can heal in every position except the first and I find him a bit weaker due to this lack of positional flexibility, even if you can swap him from healing to damage dealing by switching out a couple skills.

Anyway, I've had this class modded with these values for a long time but figured that I would finally share with the world. Enjoy.

Personal opinion here, but I think Cataphract is always meant to function as a secondary healer with the benefit of giving themselves stacking prot, or a backline damage dealer. But never as a solo healer.

Maybe it's because the mods I use but I found him very appealing with his wee AoE heal. To me he is a punchbag that helps me sustain through long runs helping my main healer to focus on the more damaged character. Since he does AoE heals, even an increase of a single extra point of HP healed through each upgrade of the skill is massive since it hits all 4 team members, specially with a relic that increases healing effectiveness. I've reached at point where he was healing 48 hp across the board in a single turn, and I think the only way to balance bigger AoE healings is to add a cool down to the skill of at least a turn or maybe two.
