Special conditions of detention: Any interaction with SCP-261 must be approved by an employee with a security clearance level 2 or higher. All items issued by SCP-261 must be logged, as well as the amount of money spent and the time between purchases. At the moment, SCP-261 should be used no more than 10 times a day, the amount of money deposited for one purchase should not exceed 500 Japanese yen. These restrictions do not apply to experiments approved by the Branch Administration.

Items issued by SCP-261 should be taken to the Office of Medicine and Occupational Safety before eating. Failure to comply with this requirement releases the Fund from any obligations in case of damage. Items deemed dangerous or suitable for experiments will be confiscated by the security service, the money spent on them will be reimbursed accordingly.

Description: SCP-261 resembles a large black vending machine with an opaque front panel and a small block of keys on the right front. SCP-261 was discovered in Yokohama, Japan. SCP-261 attracted the attention of the Foundation after investigating an urban legend about a "magic vending machine" that was circulating on the Internet. SCP-261 was found in the backyard of a large shopping mall, a piece of paper with the inscription "not working" in Japanese was attached to it. There are no markings or markings on SCP-261, and the locals do not remember who put it here and when.

Inside, SCP-261 is a regular vending machine for selling food and drinks. The front panel was opened with a specially made key, nothing abnormal was found inside. It also turned out that there was never any food or drinks on the trays of SCP-261. The key block is connected correctly and works, but does not activate the mechanisms for the delivery of goods.

To activate SCP-261, you should put money into it and enter a three-digit number on the key block. SCP-261 will give out a random item. SCP-261 accepts only yen, all other currency goes into the change tray. How objects appear inside is unknown, SCP-261 refuses to work when the door is open or if there are recording devices inside. The number entered on the key block does not seem to affect the issued item, no pattern has been revealed. The items given out always relate to food or "snacks", the packaging is usually bright and catchy.

SCP-261 can operate without being connected to an electrical network, but operation in this mode becomes "unstable" much faster than usual. If SCP-261 is used several times in a short period of time, and/or if large amounts of money are placed in it before purchase, SCP-261 will begin to give out very strange items. They can still be called "food", but their suitability for human consumption is often zero.

The list of items issued during the eighth phase of the experiments:
800 yen was entered for each purchase, purchases were made every two minutes. SCP-261 was connected to the power grid.

"Coke Zero" is a can of diet Coca-Cola labeled in English.

“Cheetos" is a small pack of Cheetos, the packaging marking is in English.

“Black Black” – Packaging of chewing gum with caffeine, marking in Japanese.

"Yan Yan" is a waffle tube with peach glaze, packaging marking in Japanese. Meiji Seika Company does not produce this.

“Pepsi: The Bend of the Dragon" – A can of Pepsi-Cola with a fruity taste, the labeling of the can in English. The taste was defined as the taste of pitaya (dragon fruit). PepsiCo does not produce such a drink.

"Sithi-Cola" is a "jar" made of transparent plastic with a Japanese label. There was a clear liquid inside. When the jar was opened, the liquid, apparently, began to interact with the air, turning into a thick black color in a few seconds. The black color "resembled clouds of smoke", the reaction is irreversible. The liquid tasted like cola with something spicy.

"Small bakery: 7 Cereals" – Aluminum tube, the size of a chocolate bar, with a green button, marking in English. When the lid was unscrewed, the "dough" went out of the tube. Enzymes and bacteria that cannot be identified were found in the composition of the "test". Upon contact with the air, the dough rose and "baked", during which the bacteria died. The result was a round loaf weighing 250 grams. It tasted good, but a little harsh.

“Lemon oysters” is a bag made of thick plastic, a plastic tube is attached to one side. Inside is water and twelve oysters, the package is labeled in Dutch. According to the instructions, the tube was broken in half. The liquid in the bag immediately boiled, steam went through the valve at the top of the bag, slightly burning one of the researchers. The steam stopped coming after 38 seconds, after which the oysters in the package were completely ready and had the smell of lemon. The study showed that oysters do not correspond to any known species.

"Diet Ghost" – A jar with inscriptions in English, containing a copy of SCP-2107. During the experiments with this sample, the same results were obtained as in the case of the other instances of SCP-2107 that are in maintenance. This was the first time other SCP objects were obtained from SCP-261.

"<Unknown>" is a small string bag filled with small multicolored pyramids, a label in an unknown language. The pyramids tasted very tasteless and hard as chalk. The pyramids placed in hot water opened, "trickles" flowed out of them, which quickly dissolved and colored the water in the same color as the pyramid. The taste of the water has not changed, but it has been experimentally established that the content of minerals, carbohydrates and proteins in the water has increased dramatically. The content fully corresponded to the daily norm of nutrients for an adult. The researcher who drank this water complained of abdominal pain after 2 hours, but no other effects were noticed.

"<Unknown>” is an aluminum box with a glass window on the side and a large round button at the top, marking in an unknown language. The box looks monolithic, inside it contains small round creatures covered with fur, which have three paws and one eye. Pressing the button instantly warms up the contents, the creatures are boiled alive. For the first few seconds after pressing, a muffled noise and scratching could be heard from inside. After a minute and a half, the front panel opened, the animals were already cooked. Due to the lack of willing, Professor Kane volunteered to eat the animals. According to him, they are crispy and very spicy, slightly smell of beef.

”<Unknown>" is a long and thin aluminum jar with markings in an unknown language. Opening the jar caused a chemical reaction inside. Apparently, the liquid inside was not intended for an oxygen atmosphere - the jar exploded powerfully, injuring everyone who was nearby and killing two. The experiments were stopped, the laboratory was cleaned up. The scene smelled of lemon for several days afterwards.
