Description
Commodity-Backed Vanilla Space Credits and Minting

This mod enables Advanced Assembler / Normal Assembler to:
  1. Mint (assemble) physical Space Credits from precious metals in the Tools tab.
  2. Extract precious metals from Space Credits by disassembling them.

Balanced for Assembler Efficiency Realistic.

Precious metals ingot quantities to produce one (1) space credit have equivalent value on the Economy market. This means you could spend one (1) SC buying the required ores from Economy stations, refine the ore into ingots, and craft exactly one (1) Space Credit from the purchased ore.

Yes, you can melt your money down for silver, gold, and platinum.

Noteworthy Side-Effects:
  • Yield/Effectiveness upgrade modules become much more valuable.
  • Earlier access to upgraded tools and hand weapons.
  • Earlier access to superconductors.
  • It becomes possible to build ion thrusters without access to platinum ore. But IMO you'd have to be a masochist to spend your time grinding space credits rather than just prospecting for platinum deposits.

Tech Details
I made the assumption that people still using currency in the future would have sense enough to ensure their currency attains value from a diverse collection of things. Therefore: each Space Credit gets its value from 34% Silver, 33% Gold, and 33% Platinum.

The calculated Ingot quantity to Space Credit mint relationship is:
Silver (34%): 0.00017 Ingots = 0.34SC Gold (33%): 0.0000165 Ingots = 0.33SC Platinum (33%): 0.00000825 Ingots = 0.33SC ------------------------------------------ 1SC (100%): Ag + Au + Pl -> SC = 1SC

The value per ingot was found by:
  • Taking the price of each ore on the Economy Market (Ore Price)
  • Dividing by the amount of each ore used to produce each ingot (Ore-to-Ingot Ratio)
Therefore:
Silver Ingot: 2000SC Gold Ingot: 20000SC Platinum Ingot: 40000SC

Might be localization, idk. I'll update the description to clarify. Thank you for pointing out the confusion. I hope you enjoy the mod.

Maybe it's a localization thing. For me it's always been just assembler. Interesting. This is a cool mod. Definitely looking forward to trying it.

In SE there are three assembler types: Survival Kit, Basic Assembler (1x1), and the Advanced Assembler (1x2).

Yes, before the Basic Assembler was a thing the Advanced Assembler was the "normal" assembler.

Whats the advanced assembler? Is that just the normal assembler?
