Description
Waukesha, Wisconsin is a small, Midwestern city located on the Fox River and just west of Milwaukee. I've lived here for most of my life so I decided to make the region in Cities: Skylines as my first map! As part of this region, I also included Pewaukee Lake to the north, home to the town of Pewaukee. While the map includes the entire area of these two localities, the map also includes parts of the towns of Hartland, Delafield, Brookfield, Wales, Genesee, New Berlin, and Muskego.

I wanted this map to be naturalistic, almost like it was untouched by people, and to give you as much creative freedom as I could. As such, the locations of resources for the most part are not how they are in real life (as the entire map would probably be one giant forest!). This will allow for the use of any industry on the map with spots of oil and ore and fishing in the massive lake to the north that can be reached within the vanilla map boundaries, but I have farming as the primary industry like how it is in the real world. There are also no freeways on the map as I intended for you to decide where to put the freeways in your own city with the help of 81 Tiles and Unlimited Outside Connections. However, this will add some difficulty as you will have to manage both local and through traffic when you start your city. This map is not a 1:1 remake of the region, but it is very close.

While I initially made the map with modded play in mind, I see no reason why you can't play this with just the required items for a more vanilla experience.

I want to update this map every so often based on feedback received and as my mapping skills get better (of which I saw a huge improvement during the development of this map).

Required Mods and DLC: You need these to run the map properly.

Mass Transit DLC - Needed because I used the 2-Lane 2-Way highways.

Tree Control by algernon & Chamëleon TBN - There are over 1 Million trees on this map! About 5 times the vanilla limit!

2-Lane Two-Way Country Road by Delta 5-1 - I used these for a portion of the roads around the irl downtown Waukesha area of the map. This is prefect for a rural highway that has places like farms or houses along it.

Filler Grass by pdelmo - I used this tree asset to create wetlands around rivers. While you can technically leave this out, the map will look super odd without it.

The Map Theme I used for this map is Regular Temperate by pdelmo (as seen in map photos).

Recommended Mods: Mods that I would recommend playing with on this map, but they're not required.

81 Tiles 2 (Testing) by algernon and Chamëleon TBN - Unlock the entire map to play.

Extra Landscaping Tools by BloodyPenguin - Add or remove resources and trees and more landscaping tools. Very useful for removing farmland during urban development.

Forest Brush v1.3 by egi and TPB- Create mixed tree forests.

Unlimited Outside Connections by algernon & BloodyPenguin - You can make unlimited connections using highways to the edge of the map.

@Mateo_Matthew Aside from the grass, the rest are the new vanilla trees from the Airports Update (not the DLC).

I personally love this map even though I’m not familiar with the area, the fact that you didn’t litter it with highways and outrageous landscaping is my number 1 attraction to it.. a bonus is no unrealistic river system as well….keep up the fantastic work as I look forward to new maps or updated maps coming from you!

I love this map. Simple, elegant and no highways to start the game. It makes the organic growing of numerous smaller communities into a larger metropolis fun and easy. Kudos to you for this Waukesha-inspired dream map!
