RiMuscle - Performance Enhancing Supplements

Hello everyone! RiMuscle will be a new series of mods that add real life supplements and performance enhancing drugs into rimworld. Some will have serious side effects, some will be relatively safe to take. This mod covers the first supplements, all relatively safe to use, and the expansions will have more dangerous drugs like TRT, Test or HRT. Those will have more serious complications and harder maintenance.

This mod adds 5 new consumables that enhance pawns in different ways.

I tried to be as medically accurate as possible when creating this mod, but at the same time I wanted to balance it according to vanilla. Since I cannot actually make muscle gains and similar things in Rimworld, I made it so that the substances just generally made pawns stronger in certain aspects. Ranging from a pawns mood to their moving/manipulation capabilities all the way to their immunity gain speed, this mod adds supplements that bring benefits.

The way the supplements work is, basically you need to have a loading phase where you take a lot at once and after the effects get to the point you want them to, you need to have a maintenance phase where you take the supplement once a day or once every 2 days to maintain the bonuses. If you don't take the substance for multiple days, the bonuses decay. Some substances have side effects, some are relatively safe to take. THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE! This version of the mod is practically completed but if there are any complaints about balance, I will change the stats of the items.

Currently, these substances are accessible through a new orbital trader added, called RiMuscle Supplement Trader, which is accessible through the communications console. I recommend Call Trade Ships mod by KV to have access to this trader whenever you want.

Creatine Mono-hydrate:

Simple, creatine basically boosts your pawns physical capabilities by giving them more movement speed and manipulation, along with high doses also providing a boost to work speed at the cost of blood filtration. Creatine is relatively safe to take in real life as well and although this mod limits blood filtration, in real life, creatine is rather safe to take in relatively high doses as well, of course if its not exaggerated. Creatine normally allows muscles to hold more muscle, hence increasing power output and decreasing recovery rate. Also increases total body mass due to all the muscle mass you are holding.

Branched Chain Amino Acids:

Branched Chain Amino Acids, also known as BCAA's are composed of 3 main amino acids; leucine, isoleucine and valine. Although, you do get almost sufficient amount of BCAA's through a regular diet that includes a fair amount of protein products. Especially if you don't use protein powder, you generally wouldn't need an extra supplement of BCAA's in real life, unless you are a professional level athlete.

BCAA's give pawns slight work speed bonus.

Zinc Magnesium Aspartate:

Zinc Magnesium Aspartate, commonly referred to as ZMA is a composite made of zinc, magnesium and vitamin B6. It helps with multiple things, such as body re-composition, muscle recovery, sleep quality and boosts immunity system.

ZMA increases the natural regeneration rate of pawns and boosts their immunity recovery speed. High doses also prevent diseases like wound infections or malaria from happening.

Beta Alanine:

Beta Alanine is an amino acid that reduces fatigue and may increase exercise performance. Some evidence shows that it may also help increase muscle mass in response to exercise, but more information is needed. In general, the substance is recommended only if you do long sets, ranging from 45 to 75 seconds, as it seems to help with muscle endurance a tiny bit.

I made it so that Beta Alanine reduces fatigue and improves sleep quality for pawns.

Anxiety Mix:

Lastly, we have anxiety mix. It basically gives a mood bonus to pawns but if they take too much, they become "careless", receiving a huge 18 mood bonus at the cost of 25% global work speed. Otherwise, its relatively safe to take.

The idea behind anxiety mix was a mix of different compounds, mainly vitamins B3-6-12 and D, combined with L-Theanine, valerian root, chamomile and lavender. These are all known to be "herbal" anxiety relievers.

A Quick Disclaimer: I am not a nutrition expert or have a medicine degree. I am just interested in working out and body building, so if there is any inconsistencies with the effects behind the supplements, make sure to fix me in the comments.
