Description
The Class HD300 (HD300形) is a hybrid diesel/battery Bo-Bo wheel arrangement shunting locomotive type operated by Japan Freight Railway Company (JR Freight) in Japan. Following the delivery and evaluation of a prototype locomotive in March 2010, the first full-production locomotive entered service in February 2012. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JR_Freight_Class_HD300

I had been playing lots of openttd recently with the Japanset expansions and decided I wanted to make a locomotive in stormworks. I decided on this one, the HD300, because the pictures of it and it's bright red color really stood out to me as I was browsing wikipedia.

To operate it in game, press the quick start button and leave it on while in use. After the diesel engine gets running, increase the main clutch to move forward. The throttles are preset at values which I think work well, but feel free to adjust and play around with them. It uses a diesel engine to power a generator, and then a large electric motor to move the locomotive. The electric motor is also used as a starter for the diesel engine and the clutch between the engine and motor is disengaged after starting. There are also manual controls with a toggle button to use them, but these are mostly unnecessary and I really only used them to test the vehicle.

It can run and move on just the electric motor alone, but will slowly drain the batteries without running the diesel engine.

There are also hose connections on each side, as well as the front and back to refuel the 6 tanks.

I used a pid microcontroller to control the throttles for the modular engine. That microcontroller can be found here: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2401325018
I increased the Integral Gain from .002 to .004, but otherwise it is the same as the workshop item.
