Description
SAM Container
Overview
Container sized missile defence system. Stand-Alone. Missile count: 38

Price: $ 89'743.-

Features
Enganges targets up to 1500m automatically when deployed and armed.

Can also be controlled via NFT over radio or by cable (Bit 1 toggles ARM mode, and Bit 4 toggles remote control or auto mode). Needs to be deployed first!

Light system indicates status of operation:
  • OFF: Stowed, ready for transport
  • GREEN: Deployed
  • ORANGE: Armed
  • RED: Engaging target in auto mode (laser helps identifying target)
  • YELLOW blinking: out of ammo / reloading
  • BLUE: Remote controlled

Internal controls allow and additional siren to be toggled, which sounds when the system engages a target. Other controls allow deactivation of radio link and additional indicator lights. There's also a jettison button, to jettison loaded missile and a voltage indicator, showing actual system voltage (max. 28V) and time remaining on battery.

Remember to set IFF/RC Frequency before deploying!
CAUTION!
Do not deploy when loaded on a fast moving vehicle. Missile-Loader tends to get stuck!

Hm, thats odd. Never experience said behavoir. Mostly when the system was running for a time.
You could try to reattach the missile by lifting it at the hardpoint. Or you could try to remove the missile the same way out of the container.
Have you tried to reproduce the problem with different physics settings?

it's mostly on spawning in that I see one near the front/launching mechanism fall over or otherwise break loose.
If there was a way to get the fallen/loose missiles out, it would be fine as well.

I'm only on singleplayer, both with lots of things spawned in and brand new saves.

the more interesting part is that the most common times it happens is when the physics kick in during spawning. the more intense/violent that is, the more chance of it breaking loose

I experienced this same behavior once in a while, but was never able to figure out it's root cause. But it was never consistent. I'm going to investigate into it further.
Did you experience this problem on a server or otherwise with some latency in the game?
Maybe it need to upgrade the reload logic to a more fail-safe system, that's still fast. Could take a while. 😉

system consistently gets stuck reloading with fallen missiles, any suggestions?

Once your SAM was activated, it targeted a Bull Dozer sitting idle next to the hanger bay and proceeded to fire 10 missiles at the dozer before it was powered down. Also, since it could not precisely hit the dozer until the 5th missile or so, the missiles went underground as if were firing torpedoes. It also began firing on a parked skid loader, neighboring SAM and afterwards fired at the container loader I was driving. Oh yeah, it also destroyed my CAT generator inside the hanger. I guess that's were those torpedoes went to thin of it. But it's a shame people online are far more ignorant and worse than the entitled karens walking around in real life. Try going out once in a while instead of trolling message boards. It's also comical how very few people in the real world have the courage to talk this way face-to-face.

Good to know that my line of thinking is not the only one. X-D

My SAM system looks just a few degrees over the horizon. Therefore it is also capable of engaging ground and sea targets if stationed properly, making it even more versatile.

@Richman,
Ignore that fool.
Pennies' SAM does NOT ignore player/friendly vehicles; it will target indiscriminately. I used my own spawned vehicles to test it. It does, however, scan at a high angle which means it wont detect anything until an object is high above and in range of the radar's skyward FOV.
Also, what kind of madman spends hours "setting up a base" by prespawning a dozen vehicles?? THE LAG is probably why the other SAM couldn't hold a lock on long enough to fire on any "friendly" objects that may have moved around it.
I doubt "many other players" are expecting your SAM *not* to fire on a vehicle they spawned in just to be a test target. No reasonable fellow would leave a SAM active while flying over himself. :sefacepalm:

I vote for this to be used as an asset as it is. Implementing a working and reliabable IFF is very difficult.
I recommend to use it with it's 360°-destruction-capability in mind and place it on the outskirts of your base.
Then use a simple transmitter on the set IFF frequency to disarm the SAM system while passing and activate it when out of range again.

If added to this container, this S.A.M would be the #1 go-to defense for any gamer. Granted, not sure how many people are still playing, but apparently 820 mods were added to the Steam workshop this week.
With so many releases, I understand. Myself, have not had a chance to play all 100+ titles owned, installed, and intend to play. Unlike others who just download to be a #1 Steam collector.
Personally, would like to see this S.A.M. with an IFF and would post a lucrative award. Without it, it's just an unpredictable cool looking box, and costly one after it destroys your base. If you have time or interest of course.
Wish I had the skills to mod it. Thought SW was a simple builder, but it turned out to be way more complex. I still have just a white slab as a design. Lol. Hence relying on more talented persons. :) Thankyou.
