Weapons to use on Animal Class
Weapons are used to hunt. Currently, 4 different weapon classes are available: Rifles, Shotguns, Handguns, and Bows (including Crossbows)

Rifles
Rifles are the favorite option for many hunters. Provided with scopes, they can be very effective in long-range shooting.

Shotguns
Shotguns are useful tools for hunting small to medium game. Whilst they have a considerable lower range than rifles, their spread makes it easier to hit vital parts if the shot was placed poorly. However, one has also to consider the lower penetration of shotgun pellets. They're mostly used to hunt ducks and geese, or to stop angry animals charging towards the hunter.

Bows
Bows are the option for players that like stalking and sneaking up on animals. While their penetration is excellent, they lack the range and accuracy of rifles.

Tool (Skills and Weapon Perks)
Up to level 60, the game only gives you 22 skills and 22 perks.
You won't have enough points to purchase everything and the reset can be expensive.
This tool allows you to plan your build (Skills and weapon perks) up to level 60 and save it.

Skills and Weapon Perks[thehunter.dpenet.net]

Simply left click on a skill to spend a point.
You can remove a point by using the CTRL key and left click the skill again.
You can also remove a point by clicking on the counter area.
Removing a point will chain check the requirements again on the next skills from the tree.
The point counters turn green when the requirements are met.
The prerequisites are indicated at the top of each column for the skills.

By hovering over each skill, the description is displayed on the right side

"Hunt-able Animals needs to be rechecked for updated animal classes.

I.E. Feral Pigs are now Class 5. Salt Crocs are now Class 8.

I believe there's a few more.
I think it was in one of the March 2024 patches.

You might also want to consider the COTW Companion app for android.
