Ensuring diamond spawn
  1. Download the Animal Population Scanner tool:
    • Visit Nexus Mods[www.nexusmods.com].
    • Download and unpack the tool.
  2. Launch the Animal Population Scanner tool:
    • Open the tool and select your desired reserve.
    • Locate the "animal_population_x" file in the list below and open it.
  3. Check diamond population:
    • Select the tab for the desired animal species.
    • Look for the number next to the diamond icon, indicating the amount of spawned diamonds.
    • If there are diamonds present, proceed to step 4.
    • If there are no diamonds, close the game and delete the "animal_population_x" file.
    • Note: Disable Steam cloud saving to prevent the automatic restoration of deleted files.
    • Launch the game again to generate a new population file with fresh spawns.
    • Return to step 2 to continue the process.
  4. Check the TR value:
    • If there are diamonds, check the TR value of the last diamond in the list.
    • Take note of this value as it will be useful in the second part of this guide.
Finding the exact location of the diamond spawn
  1. Access theHunter: COTW Map tool:
    • Open the website[mathartbang.com].
    • Select your reserve.
  2. Load your game save data:
    • Locate your "Saves" folder in %USERPROFILE%/Documents/Avalanche Studios/COTW.
    • Drag and drop the "Saves" folder into the designated area to the left of the map.
    • This action will load your population data into the tool.
  3. Locate the desired animal species:
    • Select the reserve where you want to find the diamond animal.
    • Expand the desired species row in the list to the left of the map.
  4. Find the highest-scoring spawn:
    • Look for the spawn row with a score greater than or equal to the TR value obtained in the previous part of this guide.
    • Expand that spawn row.
  5. Identify the group with the highest score:
    • Within the expanded spawn row, locate the group row with the highest score.
    • This group should contain the diamond animal you seek.
  6. Check the wandering cycle:
    • The wandering cycle of the selected group should appear on the map.
    • To narrow down the location, check the current time in either the Animal Population Scanner tool or the game itself.
    • Drag the topmost slider under the map to match the current time.
    • The irrelevant areas should now be filtered out so you should see only one area on the map.
  7. Go and get that diamond harvest:
    • Return to the game and navigate to the indicated area on the map.
    • Use your tracking and hunting skills to locate and claim the diamond animal.
Conclusion
By utilizing these tools, and following this step-by-step guide, you can find any diamond or any other desired animal in theHunter: Call of the Wild. Happy hunting, and may you succeed in your quest for the rarest harvests of the wilderness!

It made my life so much easier seeing that my game has totally crashed 4X since I started playing this about 3 years plus ago. Instead of copying some of my old files back after a new install, I decided to start fresh and just shoot certain 1 or 2 species per map. Depends on what map I think is best for the specific specie. This cuts my time by 60% in finding new zones for that specific specie only. I was also able to find my diamond Red deer easy. There must have being a reset cause my zones has changed or it's different because I started from scratch again. Thx a lot.

@Kanzas , yes, it's a known issue. I've informed the developer of that tool about it but unfortunately, there are no updates on this as of now :(

@Halolo , if it feels like cheating for you, then you can use it as @Gonpachiro27 mentioned. It all depends to what extent you are tired and bored hunting them without any additional clues. But one thing I can assure you of is that it won't result in any kind of ban. Cheating is acceptable if it's about a single player; in the end, it's up to the player to decide how to have fun in the game as long as it doesn't impact other players out there. So feel free to make your own decision and fear not to use it if the possible ban is the only thing you are afraid about :)

Question: I think we all agree that this is cheating since it's not the way it's supposed to be/work. Is there any kind of risk you're taking when using this program? Can my account be banned or something?

At this point, just spawn in a diamond animal of your choice in front of you and shoot it.
