Conan Exiles Better Graphics, Colors and True Sky
By ICEBREAKER
I've been optimizing and improving for some time now and in some games, especially with the unreal 4, the graphics and performance.

That's why I've changed a few things in conan exiles, performance has been extensively tested and runs very well and stably (1440p, 70 fps lock gsync, rtx 3070).

I improved the following:
- The foresight in general.
- Completely eliminated popping up of bushes, trees, ground cutter and grass.
- Slightly more load on the cpu to relieve the gpu for better performance.
- Fog: Density greatly reduced, and start distance of fog increased. A better view now.
- Better anti aliasing. MSAA deactivated, TAA activated. Better Performance and less flicker through TAA.
- Improved textures in the distance thanks to activated anisitoic filtering 16x.
- Better lod removal, smooth transition and pop-up removed from models.
- Improved and optimized shadows and ambient occlusion.
- screen space reflecions better resolution.
- Lod distance from details increased.
- No more popping up details.
- Grass smoother lod transition (has been increased).
- True sky enabled which gives better color to the sky.
- Optimized the clouds, improved both visually and in terms of performance.
- Greatly increased grass distance and also completely eliminated the popping of grass tufts.
- Increased lod distance from large bushes and trees, eliminated popping up.
- Adjusted and optimized color and lighting. No more fading. Better vision at night.
- Post process effects like chromic aberration, motion blur, grain have been disabled.
- Adjusted and optimized Tonemapper.
- Added sharpness filter for sharper details.
- ui size adjusted to 75%

Save and start the game.

For slightly slower graphics cards and more fps you can change the following values:
r.ViewDistance= to 3
r.StaticMeshLODDistanceScale= to 0.50 or 0.75 (higher is more fps, but more popping up of bushes.)
grass.CullDistanceScale= to 2 or 3.
foliage.LODDistanceScale= to 2 or 3.

Is it too dark for you:
r.Color.Mid= to 0.45 or higher.
But don't forget that the background also tends to fade again on the day. The second and better solution would be:
r.TonemapperGamma= to 3.0 or higher.
And i have set ingame gamma to: 2.0.

Sharpness:
When you play with 4k, set: r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=0 or simply remove this entry. With 2k: set to 0.50.

The brightness of your display also plays a role. If it is only 80%, for example, it is advisable to set r.Color.Mid= to 0.45-0.50. Try this for your best visual experience. I play always with 100% brightness.

Color and brightness optimization of the system:

Nvidia: Go to digital color enhancement (desktop color setting) and select a value between 60-80%.

Go to Change Resolution, scroll down and select: Nvidia Color Setting. Dynamic Output Range: Full. Color format: RGB.

And finally, I have to commend funcom for the good work. Because the graphics run very smoothly, looks nice. Performance really great, and it really just needed some fine tuning. It's nice what you can get out of here without the performance tipping over. And it looks really fantastic now, just as I think it will be in 2022. I've had a completely different experience playing other games.

Have fun with the improved graphics in conan exiles.
