Legend Craft - Guns & Grenades

Description
CURRENT VERSION: 1.1 (8/12/22)

Combine duplicates into more powerful firearms with a screwdriver and 5 screws, but each upgrade requires a minimum level in aiming proficiency. Includes all 14 vanilla guns.

There are five tiers of improvements that can be made and the fifth tier makes the weapon indestructible and jam-proof. Each level can increase damage, range, max condition, durability, crit chance, knockback and knockdown or also decrease weight, aim time, reload time, and sound volume & radius. Each tier upgrades minimum damage by 20% and the final tier is 4x more powerful than the original gun.

There are three types of mega explosives available - mega aerosol bombs, fire bombs, and pipe bombs - which double the blast intensity and increase the effect range by two tiles over their vanilla versions. To craft, they all require some combination of gunpowder, gasoline, or fertilizer that the vanilla recipes do not require. They all can be rigged with timers, sensors, or crafted remote triggers and there are two new craftable remote controllers - V4 and V5 - which can be used at longer ranges.

There are also two lootable recipe books that can be found in the game world - So You Want to Be an Engineer, which teaches the recipes that are typically locked behind the Engineer profession, and Fun With Explosives - which teaches all the mega explosive recipes (cannot be read without first knowing the engineer recipes). The engineer book is about as rare as a Vol. 3 skill book while Fun With Explosives is 4x rarer than that. Both books have a somewhat better chance of being looted from special vehicles (police cars, postal trucks, survivalist truck beds, etc).

V1.4 NOTE: The damage increase that is applied to upgrade levels can now be customized in the Custom Sandbox options screen upon starting a new game (default options are loaded if update is applied or mod is loaded mid-game). The first four tiers are determined by a % number and the legend tier is determined by a multiplier - these figures apply to min damage values while the vanilla item's damage range is preserved. The default values are 20% and 4x and can be adjusted 5%-100% and 2x-20x - it is recommended to keep a 5:1 ratio of these two values for intended balancing except for % values of less than 10% to which the minimum 2x would be optimal. There is also the ability to enable durability for legend tier weapons, which are indestructible by default, with the Make Legend Weapons Destructible check box. The condition lower chance values of these legend items are scaled with their lower tier counterparts. Additionally, there is the ability to disable weapons being made quieter with each upgrade - this is to restore the functionality and usefulness of silencer mods.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Vanilla weapon upgrades are now fully compatible with LC firearms. The LC versions of those weapon upgrades still remain as to maintain save stability as does the ability to convert and revert between vanilla and LC attachments, but there is no longer any need to do so. Once functionality is shown to be bug-free, the ability to convert to LC versions of attachments will be disabled, but the items themselves and the ability to revert them to vanilla will always exist in code for save integrity.

AIMING LEVEL NEEDED TO UPGRADE:
II - Lv. 1
III - Lv. 2
IV - Lv. 4
V - Lv. 6
Legend - Lv. 8

The second installment of my Legend Craft series of mods - you can check out Melee Weapons here if you like.

Aoa Marbo,

Love your mods, they match perfectly with the way i want to play the game. However, just wanted to ask, still no luck with any silencer mod?

Thanks

Muggs - You'd have to go and add each of these guns to the Brita files by finding the attachments they should work with and listing the LC guns there.

Hey yeah just a heads up for aiming speed higher is better

Is there a way to add the Brittas attachments? I am having problems with that, maybe because of naming

@Torkkar I don't think your suggestion 2 would work, because I don't think it's possible in Zomboid for one weapon to use multiple different kinds of ammunition. I think there might be underbarrel shotguns and grenade launchers in the Brita weapon mod, but I'm fairly sure they had to do some crazy things to get that to happen and at least one of the required mods for that has a team of people working on it.

man 2 suggestions:

1 you should make an LC Collection cause these mods rock.

2. you should add in a shits & giggles weapon maybe takes a shotgun, 1 revolver, & 3 D.E. style pistols & combine them with metal pipe & string/twine/fishing line using a Propane torch into Moe's Quint Cannon from the Simpsons. would be hellishly funny.
