Modular Space Station

Description
This is my submission for the 5th UESC Building Contest.

With a modular design, stations can be more easily manufactured in a specific place, and then have their modules transported seperately to a specific building site for assembly. In addition, modules are much easier to mass-produce in much less time than single-body space stations. The modules can be assembled or re-assembled in any order which the architect or station master deems necessary for the station's purpose.

Each module is connected via merge blocks and has an intricate network of conveyors and connectors that allow for the transfer of resources between modules. Each module also has an airlock in case of module seperation.

This specific station was designed to sit on the border of an empire's controlled space to support incoming and outgoing vessels. It has storage to hold supplies to restock war ships, as well as a docking port and landing pad to load and unload crew.
It is capable of holding a staff of 12 crew members.

It is a relatively unimportant and expendable installation, and so significant defenses and armor plating were deemed negligable, though it was given some defenses.

Current Modules:
**Center Piece: Control Tower Module
**Defensive Weapons Module (x2)
**Power Module (complete with 22 solar panels, 6 Small Reactors, Control room)
**Main Storage Module (With supply tap for resupply)
**Entry Point Module
**Hangar Module
**Ship Docking Module
**4-way Connector Module (x2)
**Medical Module
**Munitions Module (Complete with munitions lockers and practice shooting range for military personnel)
**Habitation Module (Complete with 12 beds, 12 Personal storage lockers, 2 bathrooms, and a mess hall)

Additional Notes:
You will begin this world in the Habitation Module as if you've just woken up.

There is a Gehenna Class Frigate docked to the station. I built this frigate back in the 1st UESC Ship building contest, and decided to use it again here. It is not part of the station.

It would seem that if you wish to undock the Gehenna Class Frigate, you must de-activate the merge blocks from the control tower. If you try to do it from the command bridge of the Gehenna, the game will crash.

The Hangar Module is currently occupied with a Personnel Transport Vessel.

All cargo containers and reactors are currently stocked with supplies.. Open one up and see what's inside!

*IMPORTANT* If a door is closed, it means it is currently under pressurized air-lock. There will only ever be 2 concurrent doors closed.

Thank you for downloading!

Just found this in one of my playthroughs! Nice job - even came with a docked Gehenna-class frigate, which was interesting. I think I got the old version without the airtight features, though, so I'm upgrading it ;).

Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it!

I got SE back in 2015 but I hadn't played it seriously until the past couple of months. So I started a new survival game this weekend and and ran across your design as I was surveying asteroids for minerals. It's a nice design and I've commandeered it, the station and the attached ship. I took the ship back to my home base and modified it so it's airtight with an O2/H2 Generator plus O2 Tank.

Very nice design for both ship and station.

Hey! Thanks Squish! Yeah, all of the structures that got thrown into the random encounters generator are old designs. I'm pretty sure they implemented this feature before they did air-tightness so you might be hard-pressed to find a random encounter that you won't have to modify to be air-tight. We simply didn't know how to design for it. We kind of had to pretend back then.

So I finally found the creator of that "mysteriously appearing station" on my server. After reading this one might think "what took you so long to find it!?" Well, my friends and me stayed on earth for long time, going the hard way until we finally touched the sky. And well, when I suddenly found it one day, I asked all my friends who the hell cheated and spawned a space station up there?

Well, what can I say, today I FINALLY found the answer, noone did :D

Great job man, although that version on my server might be a pretty old one with no air seals (had to start a lot modifikations to finally have some air pressure inside (the windows where not sealed in most cases). But it's still up there, I took a Blueprint from you anyways now, just to see if there were later changes on it.

Again, great work - and a nice surprise to find it somewhere out there :-)

Ha, yeah, I wasn't going to land any of my big ships on mars. Just convert this back to a station, dock my no-air ships to it, and mark it in my GPS.
Abyzmi  [author] 18 Mar, 2018 @ 1:33pm
Glad you found it David. Just remember that you can't land that ship on Mars. You might be able to take out one of hte reactors in the rear compartment and replace it with a jump drive.

Just found this on my way to Mars too XD So happy!

Amazing idea with the modular design. I'm just going to move the landing bay on the other side as it's casting shadows on the solar panels, for which by the way I added a programmable block with Isy's solar alignment script. Works great!
Just need a quick refit for Oxygen (I'll start working on it tomorrow), as did the warship attached to it. Gonna keep both, and in my survival game that station is going to be known as Deep Space 4 :steamhappy: Mars can wait, I've found something better to do!

Oh! I know what to do with it. I'll add a projector and blueprint it, and the Gehenna too, and rebuild them later once I reach Mars. That way it will go faster. XD Then I can modify them for atmosphere, at least in the control sections, and hook the medbays up to feed it to my suit. That hangar will be a nice docking point for my mining drone.

I'm glad to see that people are still having fun with this station.
