Friendly Fire

Description
Ranged units are now less cautious when firing over friendly units. You can even stack some units on top of each other, like patch 1.3, but they will deal friendly fire damage (unlike in patch 1.3).

In vanilla units will fire at least 15 % above their allied units, with this mod they can fire up to 20 % lower than your allied unit's height. This makes it easier to hit units on the other side of an allied unit, but also greatly increases friendly fire.

Might not be strictly “better”, will make it easier to use direct line of fire units at the cost of greatly increased friendly fire (which is almost non-existent in vanilla). Intended mostly for flavour mod.


This will likely be compatible with all future updates, as long as they dont change the name of "projectile_friendly_fire_man_height_coefficient" in the "_kv_rules_tables".

The main problem with this mod is that while skaven do get more ruthless in firing at their own troops units like rattling guns and jezzails simply delete themselves.

Is it possible to show the friendly fire caused by your own units? In a similar way to how it shows kills, damage and damage value? I just think it would be super funny to quantify how many of your own skavenslaves you've killed with artillery with this mod as an example, lol.

AI empire are shooting their front line to pieces with this mod lol I love it. it makes the AI seem so ruthless.

The game just check what version number was written on the mod. It says nothing if a mod is actually compatible or incompatible to a patch. There are loads of mods that say incompatible but have worked and will continue to work fine. What breaks mods to some degree is when the game changes things that a mod also modifies. People bugging mod authors with "update please" when no update is needed is a big reason why authors disable comments or mods get abandoned/NOT updated in the few cases when they actually do need an update.

Hmmm, Maybe its just my imagination then. I installed it but it said it was out of date so I said load it anyways but the units didn't really seem to change much and were still very wonky on shooting over friendly units even when placed on a hill. I guess it could just be me though I will mess with it some more with the mod loaded to see.

This will likely never need an update, it only changes one number. I wrote this in the description.

I know I am kind of kicking a dead horse here, but is there a updated version of this mod anywhere or explanation on what needs to be changed in the files to do it yourself?

This would be nice to have as a toggle.

Like a "Do or die" kind of thing for when you absolutely need your ranged units to fire (without them normally deleting your frontline while there is low pressure), or as other said to run as default on in "Skaven mode".

I wish there was a way to have this be usable only by Skaven, so that Skaven could fire into their own units like on the tabletop.
