Description
The CC2M1 Ibex is a 6x6 armored car developed for the Khertland army intended for mountainous warfare. The vehicle has a crew of two, a commander/gunner, and driver. It is armed with a 35mm autocannon with a single long belt feeding the gun and is not intended to be reloaded in battle as the single belt serves as the armored car's entire ammunition capacity.

The CC2M1 Ibex features fairly large wheels, good ground clearance, relatively low center of mass, variable power control, and a forward weight offset. These features enable the Ibex to traverse difficult terrain that other vehicles are not capable of. Variable power control enable higher power at low speeds for climbing while lower power at highspeed to save fuel and improve range. The forward weight offset and low center of mass maintain stability and traction while climbing.

The armored car is armed with a autocannon capable of firing up to 200 rounds per minute. The rounds fired are designed to be able to penetrate hardcover such as terrain in order to deal with hull-down enemies or general poor line of sight in mountainous warfare. It can leverage these advantage to engage enemies without them being able to return fire.

The vehicle however is intended to close with and fight at ranges as close as 500m. This has been a controversial issue where the vehicle is unable to properly engage targets without leaving cover. For these reasons the vehicle was at risk of being canceled but due to political pressures, the vehicle was ordered albeit in small numbers.

On September 4th of 2022, the Ibex was phased out of front line service due to poor performance and given to reservist units. From acceptance, the army had only ordered a small batch and instead prioritized the Astra as its premier vehicle for mountain combat. Problems with the Ibex involved its short range and rather thin armor. The vehicle had a tendency of its ammo detonating very easily based on testing. These vulnerabilities limited its use to strictly mountain warfare but even in those circumstances was found inadequate.

However, on February 6th the next year, the vehicle was given a new lease on life. The army's repeated attempts at procuring a infantry fighting vehicle have failed and was getting desperate as a result. An idea was brought forth to have a separate fire support vehicle armed with an autocannon to support infantry dismounted from armored personnel carriers. This separation of an IFV into two vehicles would be able to act as a stopgap measure. The initial suggestion was the use of the Trigon SPAAG but it was proven to be prohibitively expensive and logistically infeasible.

The only other autocannon armed vehicle in active service was the Ibex. And in tests, the autocannon proved highly lethal weapon system. A new doctrine was written for how it should be operated. Additional tests and a improved training regimen allowed the vehicle to excel at all its requirement. In fact the doctrinal and training improvements made the vehicle very well received; even among the mountain warfare commanders who previously dismissed its utility. The vehicle now has an expanded role in providing fire support for motorized infantry units along with traversing and engaging targets in mountainous terrain.
This combined role completely shifted the army's organizational structure. Suddenly the motorized infantry could conduct mountainous warfare effectively. As a result the Astra from the Mountain warfare units were absorbed into the motorized infantry regiments The Astra self-propelled mortar system had sufficient range to provide fire support for the infantry, albeit not for tanks. This allowed all elements to work effectively together. To round it off, the Rosetta armored cars were also assigned to the new motorized infantry regiments. It would not be a exaggeration to say the Ibex revolutionized Khertland army's structure.
