1Lg-600A is a Soviet series of residential buildings for industrial housing construction, created according to a Polish project revised by the LenZNIIEP Institute in the mid-60s. Initially, the construction of houses was carried out by Avtovsky DSK-3 in Leningrad and its suburbs. The people's name “ship” was given to the series for the white facade with lines of windows reminiscent of the decks of ocean liners.

On the basis of the Polish project, at least 7 typical projects of 9-storey buildings with a different number of sections and their orientation were developed. The project of the house was approved by the Order of the State Committee for Construction and Architecture on January 23, 1965. The first house under the project 1Lg-600A-5 was built under the personal supervision of A.B. Tovbin from September 27, 1967 to December 29, 1968 and was handed over to the state commission without evaluation due to the use of new designs and materials in the order of experimental construction. On the same day, Avtovsky DSK-3 completed the first house under the 1Lg-600A-1 project at 67 Novatorov Boulevard. On its basis, a 12-storey building 1Lg-600A-1-12 was soon developed (later the project was finalized and approved as 1Lg-600A-8). In those years, the development of new districts of Leningrad was carried out mainly by buildings of projects A-5, A-7, A-И1 and their sections. Point buildings were used less often, sometimes taking root in the microdistricts of the Khrushchev period. In the future, in order to diversify the development, DSK-3 began to experiment and a serious modernization of the point building project was carried out. 6 experimental 15-storey buildings under the code 9365/E were built in 1974-1975 on Pionerstroy Street, and they received the index 1Lg-600A/14, but were no longer used in the future. Buildings of projects A-2, A-3, A-4 and A-6 were never implemented.

The series is one of the most massive in the 1970s, but at the end of the decade its reputation was overshadowed. On February 27, 1979, a complete collapse of the assembled 15-storey point 1Lg-600A-9 occurred on Kustodieva Street in Leningrad. The cause of the collapse was the sealing of the joints of the facade panels with a cement mixture instead of gernite gaskets. Hardening in the cold, cement mortar mixed with salt caused an incorrect redistribution of loads among the structural elements of the house, which led to the destruction of part of the supporting consoles and collapse. Another house being built nearby was stabilized with logs and subsequently dismantled. After the incident, houses were built less frequently, and since 1982 they have completely stopped building them in Leningrad. They were replaced by the 600.11 series. From that moment on, 1Lg-600A began to be built only outside Leningrad. The construction of 5-story modifications in small settlements was especially common. Since 1984-85, windows in houses under construction have been replaced with standard ones, like those of 600.11. The last house in the series was built in Vsevolozhsk in 1989. Currently, these houses are considered popular in the secondary market of economy class housing, the main advantage of which is the location in the old residential areas with developed infrastructure.

In some areas of Leningrad, houses were built in the form of extended ensembles with brick inserts. This type of building was used to dampen the strong sea wind in coastal areas. In Ulyanka and Sosnovaya Polyana there are houses with hinged insulation panels. In addition, there are isolated cases of using 3-storey buildings as a hotel and an administrative building.
*Typical project 1Lg-600A/70 was the basis for projects of houses of a wide variety of configurations, so it will be released as a separate mod, with the ability to assemble houses from separate sections.

Unlike Khrushchev houses, the 1Lg-600A has an elevator and a garbage chute. In 12- and 15-storey buildings, a second elevator of 240 kg is provided. The main disadvantages of houses are considered to be poor heat and sound insulation. In addition, the layout involves small kitchens and a bathroom without a place to install a washing machine. Apartments with 3 or more rooms often have walk-through rooms. In project 1Lg-600A/70, due to the protruding facade, the kitchen area in 3-room apartments was increased to 10.5 m2.
