Dark Age of Technology [Beta]

Description
This mod adds a new origin that is focused around not boosting tech and more on expansion and quantity.

Discription:
At the height of technological development, the Empire fell victim to a localized voidstorm. This caused the Imperial Core worlds to be cut off. Without supplies from the countless colonies, the situation became increasingly desperate. The Core Worlds erupted into chaos. Planetary wars broke out and everything fell into anarchy. It took centuries, a strong leader and his loyal Genetic Warrior legions to reunite the Core Worlds. The voidstorm had subsided and now you are virtually back at the beginning, on the ruins of the former crown jewels of the Empire. The centuries of war and chaos have ensured that much knowledge has been lost. In addition, a mixture of superstition and a lack of understanding of your own Technology has made technological progress almost a crime and frowned upon. With this foundation, you now venture out to find out what has happened to your former realm over the past centuries.

Current Features:
  • One Custom unique Origin
  • Start with both your habitable Colonies settled
  • All your start Worlds are Relic Worlds, Remnants from the unification Wars.
  • Your start Ruler is a powerful Leader
  • You start with three Genewarrior Armys
  • You start with all Technology up to Tier 2 unlocked.
  • Your Empire has hefty debuff on Research speed.
  • Your Empire will not be liked by others for its backward view on technology.
  • Nearly all Government Types are playable and have a unique introduction text.

Features WIP:
  • New Dig sites and Anomaly around the remants of your former empire.
  • Discover Lost-Tech and Artifacts (Standard Blueprint Devices)

Features Planned:
  • Story Events based on Government types (What happens if your divine rulers dies? Where came the Genewarriors from?)

Disclaimers:
  • This is fully playable but does not provide a full Story experience like i want to. This is more of a extra Vanilla Origin that allows for you to tell your own Story.
  • As long as i did not implement the other features i see this as a Open Beta.
  • Also i need player Feedback on if this Origin is crazy overpowered or too weak to compete. So please if you tests this mod and like it (or not) give me some feedback what to change and how you would approach this.
  • Compatibility is fully given because i do not overwrite anything, as far as i know. But any Mod that adds new T1 or T2 techs will not unlock at the start. Its only for Vanilla tech because its technical not feasible to do so otherwise.

  • The Main reason i wanted to make this mod is to introduce a play style that provides a little challenge and breaks up the nature of the gameplay loop that Tech is the means to all ends.
I observed in multiple multiplayer and singleplayer matches that Technology is King, everything else is second nature. Technology makes your empire better in everything. And when in doubt just Tech more to solve your problems.
So I thought that this is boring and sucks the fun out of the game. I sat down and first thought to make a game balance mod that nerfs tech for everyone. But this could hamper the play style of people who really like the idea of Tech=Win. So while brainstorming i came up with an idea of an Origin that nerfs the tech play style but also gets a buff in other departments like the three relic world starts for potential massive Alloy outputs and the Tier 2 start to not fall behind too fast. The parallels to 40k just wrote themselves because of the nature of "Lost Technology" and the overall superstition that is present in that universe.
It was not my intention to make a 40k mod but a new play style and a little wink to popculture. Ok, maybe the "wink" is a pretty big one but as i said its all about a new play style and balance mod. That's why i included the Snail Empire that is a Fanatical Pacifist Empire as an example what is possible with my mod. But yes, you can now role play as a real Imperium of Men with a Origin that is much more in line with the Lore of that universe, not fully but more than everything else we have in Vanilla

Since the leader gets 'the chosen one' trait, is it possible to hardcode AI empires with this origin to not choose the option to change ethics/civics? I force spawned an AI empire with this origin and they had completly different ethics and civics from what I designed when I encountered them in game. 99% certain its because of the government rework from 'the chosen one' trait.

Hey, some stuff has happened, and now I could fix the "Just subjugate everyone" exploit that killed my enthusiasm last time, as I do not want to fumble with the main game files, which would make this mod incompatible with other mods. But now this was fixable, and you can start breaking stuff again.

Hey, I've been working on making a compat version with 40k planets, would it be OK for me to use your origin editied to use those planets and publish it?

@Lazar This is not an issue from my mod as it seems.

@mishanya1337 I worked some days on fixing this but to stop somebody playing this origin and just gobbling up Empires as vassals in the beginning is only blockable by modders when replacing vanilla files and as of now i'm not confident enough to do this. If somebody experianced and willing to help has an idea how to fix this issue please step forward. Until then i go back to my chamber of udnerstanding and you have fun playing on harder difficulties and steamrolling the AI.
