→ Outlands-version here!

The G.MS-4501 “FENRIR” Infantry Fighting Vehicle by Valkyrja - Maintenance & Engineering, is a multi-role Armored Combat Vehicle, outfitted with a full crew compartment, Passenger Capacity and a Rotor-Turret mount.

Easily distinguishable from most vehicles of its class by sheer size, the FENRIR embraces brute force over a low profile. This prominent space is occupied by redundant armor protection and enables the vehicle to be outfitted with a variety of heavy weapons on its main turret.

In its heavy IFV configuration, the FENRIR is capable of carrying a total of six Soldiers into battle and providing both direct and indirect fire-support with a variety of light to heavy weapons.

Datasheet

Non-armor blocks: 525
PCU: 7,247
Triangles: 600,433
Grid mass: 164,603 kg

Description
The Fenrir originated in a design-study to test and counter the effects of various types of modern weapon-systems on a vehicle-chassis. Intended to provide a well-protected case to shield the crew from both armor-penetrating rounds and explosions, while still providing sufficient and redundant power-systems, cargo-space and medical supplies, the Fenrir grew to a size where it surpasses most modern Main Battle Tanks.

In result, the vehicle might be well protected, but is easy to spot and lock on. Therefore, the area of application is narrowed to situations where ground troops cannot expect to enter the AO without being immediately detected by opposing forces.

While the wheels remain the most vulnerable spots on the vehicle, they’re also much faster to replace than on a battle-tank, enhancing the FENRIR’s survival-capabilities.

Protection
The entire vehicle is shielded by multiple layers of heavy armor and blast-protection, providing a high amount of security for the crew and passengers.

While the main turret is always a weak-spot on armored vehicles, all hinges and rotors on the FENRIR have been beefed up by an armored shield to maximize the available protection.

The front of the FENRIR has been additionally reinforced to further fortify the vehicle on approach - enabling it to walk right through a heavy defense-line, if absolutely necessary.

The inclined nose helps to deal with any obstacles that dare to stand in its way. However, in order to maintain a decent amount of off road-capability, cuts had to be made on wheel-protection.

Armament
In order to fulfil its purpose to fight among its infantry deployment, the FENRIR is armed with a variety of weapons, to support soldiers on the ground.

The main weapon-system consists of a standard-issue artillery-cannon, capable of engaging enemy targets outside their lock-range. Utilizing this weapon, the gunner is able to provide artillery-support as well as directly engage hostile armored vehicles. A linked gatling-gun takes care of enemy infantry and unarmored targets.

The gunnery-seat is provided with a target-camera and reticle to land both shots in close proximity as well as the outer edge of the main-cannon's effective range, recognizing bullet-drop in a 1G-Environment.

In addition, the FENRIR brings a turret-mounted Autocannon, which can be accessed by the commander or the gunner - or just stay AI-controlled. This weapon accompanies the gatling in fighting soft targets as well as independently engage enemy infantry or provide anti-air support.

Power-systems
In order to keep the vehicle operative and moving, the FENRIR comes with 2 Hydrogen engines, as well as multiple tanks and a generator to process and store its own fuel. A set of 2 frame- and 1 turret-mounted capacitor batteries help to dampen the stress on the engines, as the heavy chassis requires quite some voltage to get into motion.

This level of redundancy enables the FENRIR to stay self-sufficient for days without a refuel and to keep doing so even with heavy battle-damage.

In the seldom case where ice is not available, but uranium is, the IFV can also receive power by utilizing the two Auxiliary reactors. Usually however, they’re neither required to be fueled, nor constructed, to operate the vehicle.

Key-features
A completely airsealed environment, combined with the ability to produce oxygen through the onboard-generator, enables the IFV to carry troops through even the most hostile environments. Additionally, a survival-kit is installed to provide medical attention for wounded soldiers, making the FENRIR a rallypoint in a contested AO.

The vehicle's commander has access to a pericope-mounted camera, allowing to scout ahead and gain information and combat-data without ever leaving the vehicle. In addition, they can make use of the top-mounted autocannon, providing overwatch and suppressing fire.

A selection of both fixed and movable cameras allow the driver to maintain overview without ever having to peek their head out of the safety of their vehicles. A pre-configured toolbar with wheel-settings enable them to seamlessly adapt the Suspension of the FENRIR to changing conditions of the crossing terrain.

@RaijuRyuu the turret is a subgrid and wont populate via projector unless you are using a subgrid projector mod. I use the "Multigrid Projector" plug-in but you can find some mods that do the same thing on the Workshop if using plug-ins isn't an option for you. Otherwise you would have to rebuild the turret manually using the pics as a reference.

the turret is not coming with when trying to build it with a projector

Are you trying to build it via projector? Wheels are considered as subgrids by the game and can trigger an error message when loading the blueprint. So that's fairly normal. The vehicle uses no mods, so you should be good with the listed DLCs.

I would like to make a modified version of the Fenrir, which can carry 8 passangers, and has a vehicle crew of 2, 1 gunner, and 1 driver

Have you got the turret as a seperate blueprint? I really like the design and would like to keep consistent with your philosphy rather than design my own....

I'd subscribe if i didn't need DLC's

@c-pid - #161crew: Thank you very much for pointing that out!
The vehicles interior was already mostly completed when we got the reinforced conveyors and I might have done a slobby job replacing them before I pushed the release.
I'll look into that and fix it.

Nice design but I think there is a small flaw. The reinforced curved conveyer tube going from the turret hinge to the main cannon should be replaced with a conveyer junction. Since currently the coaxix gatling gun can not get ammo from the medium cargo container. The only way to load the gun currently is to point the turret all the way up and reveal the port on the side of the gun.
