Today I present to you the BrainzIndustries SD40, a 6-axle freight locomotive designed and manufactured by Electro Motive Division in the 1960's still seen commonly around the Americas today.

BRAKES*:

1. The INDEPENDENT BRAKE controls only the single unit's brakes
2. The AUTOMATIC BRAKE controls the locomotive's and the whole train's brakes
3. When the CUT-OUT VALVE is set to OFF, the INDEPENDENT BRAKE will be used
4. When the CUT-OUT VALVE is set to ON, the AUTOMATIC BRAKE or MU-recieved brake input will be used

STARTUP PROCEDURE**:

1. Connect the main breaker located in the fuse cabinet on the back wall of the cab
2. Ensure the ISOLATION SWITCH (located just above said cabinet) is set to OFF
3. Turn ENGINE RUN to ON (located above the throttle lever on the main control stand)
4. Proceed to the engine room by opening the doors located on the right side of the locomotive
5. Press FUEL PRIME and hold the ENGINE STARTER for 5 seconds
6. Proceed back to the cab and set GENERATOR FIELD and ISOLATION SWITCH to ON
7. Set the reverser, decrease brakes, and apply throttle

MU OPERATION***:
To operate with multiple units in a series, do the following:

1. Start the engine.
2. Set the CUT-OUT VALVE (located under the brake controls) to ON
3. Press the MU CYCLER (located just above the isolation switch) until it is on the desired mode.

MU OPERATION MODES:

1: Single or Lead Unit
2: Slave Facing Short-Hood End
3: Slave Facing Long-Hood End

SAND FUNCTION
If the unit is experiencing wheelslip, use the sand to increase traction.
