Description
Dynamic Camo System
A lightweight mod that makes your uniform choice actually matter. If your uniforms colours match the ground, you will be less visible to AI. The mod does this by comparing the uniforms average colour to the ground textures average colour and applying a camouflage coefficient depending on how much the colours match.

Features
  • Almost everything is adjustable through CBA settings
  • Only the server needs the mod
  • Texture cache for low performance impact
  • Works with all uniforms, on all maps, including modded ones, including CDLC ones
  • Darker colours conceal you in low-light conditions

Issues
  • The mod isn't always accurate, as it works off of colour averages. Sometimes you might be more visible than you think!
  • Roads aren't currently supported. Tell me if you would like to see them supported.
  • Currently, only uniforms are taken into account.
  • Likely to conflict with other camo-affecting mods like RE: Camosys and CF_BAI
  • Using "Ambient lighting reduction" at values above 0 will cause flashlights to flicker (engine bug, waiting for BI to fix)

I have tried to remedy the inaccuracy of the mod with CBA settings. If you don't want to worry about the mods inaccuracy giving away your position instead of concealing it, consider taking a look at the settings and adjusting the lower- and upper limits as you see fit.

If you feel like something is wrong or just want to check your camo coefficient, feel free to check the debug info with the included function DYNCAS_core_fnc_debug

Frequently asked questions
  • Q: Does it work against AI?
  • A: Yes it does.
  • Q: Does it work with uniforms from mod X?
  • A: Yes it does.
  • Q: Does it work with LAMBS?
  • A: Yes it does. However that's the only AI mod that I am sure about. Use other AI mods like VCOM at your own risk.
  • Q: Can you make it take stance, vegetation, time of day, overcast etc into account?
  • A: I won't, due to this being a part of the base game. You don't need mods for this!
  • Q: Will this mod affect other AI abilities such as hearing?
  • A: Nope. This mod only affects the AI:s visual abilities.
  • Q: Is this compatible with Antistasi?
  • A: Yes.
  • Q: Can I see the coefficients like in the pictures?
  • A: No. The pictures are edited.

Use the worst value of all the gears you carried as the final camouflage coefficient.

Gun color: No

Antistasi Ultimate: it should unless they use their own system

does gun colour affect the coefficient?

@Nord, yes, you need to load this mod on client side too, if you want to change settings!

Installed on my dedicated server, can't see it with CBA settings. Do I also need this client side?

@Frost I don't think this mod could cause that, but the only way to know is to check. This mod is easy to disable through CBA settings and if that fixes it then there is your answer.

Hey, do you know whether your mod asks too many queries when the number of players is over 30 and thus the players time out due to too many queries? Can you imagine that making sense? We are currently looking for a bug.

In fairness your mod does a very good job and it's much better than vanilla and even real engine's ways of handling it, so I really appreciate the work you've done and I love using it still

I'll just keep to the low setting though yeah, and experiment with more uniforms as I keep playing
Thanks for being so responsive tho, appreciate it, and thanks again for the mod!

@Vantillay It's just average comparisons, so it is very primitive. There is a lot of complex color theory and bias in the way humans see light and colors that I have not accounted for (because I don't know a lot about it), which is why there is a difference in what you perceive and what is calculated. Camouflage patterns exploit these things with a lot of things that simply get thrown away when it is simplified to an average.

The tl;dr of a potential Ted talks worth of things is that color theory, physics etc things required to actually "simulate" something like this (seeing things with your eyes) are pretty hard and that's why this mod does things in a kinda dumb way. Just set the max coef to 1 and forget about it is by far the most time efficient solution to this problem.
