Combat drones

Description
This is a somewhat early version of the mod...also it's no longer being worked in, it's dead, go home.
I've made a sequel, I guess.
Leaving this up for those that somehow want to still use it

It should function without any major issues, but content-wise it might be a bit barren (by itself it only adds like 3 drones).
I’ll be adding more stuff later, once I’m sure the balancing is right because surprise, surprise, sticking two extra independently-firing guns onto a colonist may or may not be a bit trickly to balance correctly.

Content

This mod adds combat drones which pretty much function like mobile turrets that are glued to a pawn. Imagine Vanilla Apparel Expanded — Accessories’ Mini-turret Pack, it works pretty much the same ways, except these come in the form of an implant, not apparel.

Balancing

I’m open to suggestions, so this is all subject to change, but this is currently how it all works:

A maximum of two standard/medium drones can be installed onto a pawn at the same time, a maximum of four for the small ones (or 3 if you install 2 small and 1 medium one) and a maximum of one for the large ones (if I ever make any).

The stats are pretty much copied over from weapons/implants that the module is based on, so if they are based on a weapon, they should be as effective as a normal-good quality one...except they have doubled cooldown, for obvious reasons.

- VWE Non-Lethal


I’m open to suggestions when it comes to adding support for other mods or ideas for original drones. The only requirement is that the weapon should be unique enough (either have a unique firing mode or effect on hit), with every supported mod active there already is a ton of items being added, I’d like to avoid unnecessary bloat by not adding a “pistol #22435571” module.

Compatability

CE- I have not made any effort to make this mod compatible with CE, so it’s likely that at the time of me writing this CE is prooooobably not compatible with this mod.

@JessieFeathers probably not, I'm gonna remake this mod once Athena Framework has its drone feature finished up

Hey, I encountered the same issue as 6ftbunnyrabbit (nice name btw). I loaded in and couldnt draft up the singular pawn that had combat drones. I just removed the mod from my list and my character works as expected now. I see you're abandoning this mod for a sequel, so this will be something to keep an eye out for, best of luck with it!

Weird bug happened to me after loading. None of my mods had updated between my playing but today when I loaded my save, the two pawns who had drones were unable to be drafted. Also the drones were not visible but were still listed in the health tab.
I removed the drones using character editor and was able to draft the two again.

Suggestion: Utility Drones
Shield drones: each drone produces a shield
Recovery drones: For search and rescue, temporarily resuscitates a downed pawn
Survival Drones: Collecting gaseous material, can reduce a pawn's need for food
etc

drones still just disappears after first targeting.. too bad its doesnt work, cool conception
