It is salvagable by running into the hail storm of bullets, but just a supid mechanic.
The clever trick about the single cube moving through unseen passages creating a wave of changes in the room must have been fun to design, unfortunately it does not add anything to the playing experience, escpecially as the cube is destroyed at least once. The cube droppers are merely delayed.
