Specifications

Lore

The Electro Motive Division GP7 series was built for both freight and passenger use and would find immense success, even eclipsing its predecessor models to become one of the most success diesel locomotive designs ever built. Being easy to maintain, reliable, attractive and strong, the GP7 is widely considered as one of the best diesel-electric locomotives of all time (Over 2700 GP7s were sold just in 1954) and supposedly brought an end to the steam era.

Kansas City Southern purchased a handful of GP7s in late 1950 and continued to buy them from other railroads even up until 1970. All of KCS' GP7s have been scrapped as of today.

Operation Manual

Startup:

Open the breaker box on the rear of the cab and turn every breaker on. At the top of the back wall, toggle the "ISOLATE/RUN" switch. Next, head to the cabinet at the righthand rear of the train and open it via the key button positioned near your feet. Hold the "GEN. START" key and the generator will start in a short matter of time (Will turn off on its own).

To Get Moving:

"Prime Mover Throttle" Lever: controls the throttle of the engine.

"Reverser" Lever: Points towards the direction in which you want to move.

"Brake" Lever: Applies brakes to the wheels.

To begin moving, push the prime mover throttle up past 0.15. Next, push the reverse to 1 if you want to move forwards, or -1 if you want to move backwards. After that, slowly release the brakes and you should be on your way.

Switching Tracks:

Located above the control stand is the signal switcher radio. To change any junction, input 440 into the keypad and press the track switch button next to it. The track switcher has a range of 1000 meters.

Classification Lights:

The "CLASS LIGHTS" switch on the control stand cycles between red (End of train lights), green, and off. You'll have to flip it multiple times to get the color you want.

Controlling multiple trains using ESS (Engine slave systems)

This locomotive utilizes the latest standardized Engine Slave Systems 1.4, and is mostly compatible back to 1.0 in all regards but dynamic brakes and rolling stock brakes. In order to turn a locomotive into a slave, turn on the "Slave" key. Now the slave systems have been set to receive controls rather than send. It will also transmit the controls it receives over radio and connectors. Then select whether or not it is receiving from the front connector, rear connector, or radio signal (defaults to front). If it is receiving from radio, make sure the master unit and slave are both on the same frequency. If the locomotive is facing away from the master, make sure to invert direction. A red light will come on to show that it is successfully inverted.

@vectorprime12 There are two sirens inside the locomotive that are used to imitate the horn. If you play with infinite electric on then that might cause an issue.

I have no idea why, but when I spawned it all the sirens went off.

@vectorprime12 I searched it up and it looks like the model's livery is a little different from the actual KCS GP7, but that's a neat coincidence

Ironically, I have a HO Scale Walthers KCS GP9.
