Description
Bell 407XP
The Bell 407 is a four-blade, single-engine, civil utility helicopter. A derivative of the Bell 206L-4 LongRanger, the 407 uses the four-blade, soft-in-plane design rotor with composite hub developed for the United States Army's OH-58D Kiowa

The 407's fuselage is 8 inches (20 cm) wider than the 206, increasing internal cabin space, and includes 35% larger main cabin windows. The more powerful Rolls-Royce/Allison 250-C47 turboshaft allows an increase in Maximum Takeoff Weight and improves performance at hotter temperatures and/or higher altitudes. The 407's airframe is generally similar to the LongRanger, but includes a carbon fiber composite tailboom. The helicopter has standard seating for two crew and five cabin seats

Specifications
Maximum speed: 140 kn (160 mph, 260 km/h)
Cruise speed: 133 kn (153 mph, 246 km/h)
Range: 324 nmi (373 mi, 600 km)
Service ceiling: 18,690 ft (5,700 m)

Systems
  • Dual-Power modes
  • Belly-mounted lifting winch
  • Tower-mounted Rescue Hoist
  • Glass cockpit
  • Nose-mounted gimbal camera with laser/infared functionality
  • Ground-facing lift camera
  • Equipment Pod

Startup/Takeoff checklist
  1. Master Breaker ON
  2. Fuel Pump ON
  3. Engine Run ON
  4. Ground Restrainers ON
  5. Collective Full Down
  6. [At 13 RPS, Set collective to neutral to equilize torque/rpm]
  7. When RPS builds to 15, full collective range is available.

Flight Notes
  • When in Lift power mode (Hotkey 4), Torque increases, therefore you must counter the adverse yaw with left pedal.
  • When using the belly winch, you must disconnect and stow the rescue winch assembly.
  • If full collective is introduced before the RPS increases above 15, The rotor RPS will decay significantly.
To counter this, lower the collective and refer to section 6 & 7 of the startup checklist.

I took a bit of time to finish up this helicopter after months of neglect, The inspiration came from a bell 407 i flew in belize operated by Astrum Helicopters.
