Spotify Wallpaper 2

Description
Spotify Wallpaper uses the Spotify API to grab the track you're listening to and displays its album art and other details right on your desktop.

It's been a long time coming but here it is, it's actually alive!

Features
Displaying the album art of your currently playing song on the desktop and using colors from it on the theme (the color theme will be overridable soon)

Track info
Shows the name of the current track, the album it is in, and its artists. These elements can be clicked to quickly copy a link to your clipboard for easy sharing.

Playback controls
Allows you to play/pause, switch to the next or previous song, and control repeat and shuffle status. If you do not have Spotify premium, you won't be able to change the repeat and shuffle status, but you can still play/pause and switch tracks - this emulates virtual media keys which may control other players, for example, Youtube.

Per Album Preferences
A powerful settings system that allows you to set global parameters and override them based on the current album that you are in, so you can make album-specific settings quickly and efficiently. (Support for song layers is under consideration)

Lyrics display
Mirrors your desktop Spotify Player and displays the lyrics of the song in the wallpaper. For this to work, you need to make sure your desktop Spotify Player is open with the lyrics panel. If you only have one monitor or want to get the Spotify Player out of the way, consider creating another Windows Desktop by pressing Windows Key + Tab and dragging the Spotify Player into the "New Desktop" section on the bottom.

Waifu2x AI Image Upscaler Integration
The album arts that Spotify Wallpaper can access are generally a low resolution of 512x512, which is really low especially when we stretch it over an entire monitor. Spotify Wallpaper integrates Waifu2x-caffe (https://github.com/lltcggie/waifu2x-caffe) and automatically processes the album art once it has been downloaded. The extension is not included in Spotify Wallpaper 2 out of the box, you have to download it from its panel on the bottom right - Be aware that you'll need around 1.15GB of disk space if you want to use it (More info in the wallpaper). You can play around with the settings like the model, scale ratio, and noise reduction settings to get the best look - the results can be extremely impressive.

Quick screenshot button
You can find it on the bottom right, clicking it will take a screenshot of just the wallpaper (none of your icons or anything else on your desktop will be visible) and copies it to your clipboard, I encourage users to take screenshots of really cool setups and post them in our discord!

General customization
You can show/hide many parts of the wallpaper, so if you don't want to see the track info, time, spectrum, etc you can turn off the elements individually.

Explanation of the variable override system in panels

Most panels in the wallpaper will use the variable override system. At the moment, there are 2 variable layers, one being the base layer "Global" and the other being the "Album" layer. Variables in the Global layer can be thought of as the defaults for that given setting, this means that if you set your "Album Art Width" to 0.75x, then by default, the album art width will be 0.75x no matter which album you're currently listening to on Spotify. However, if you then go to the Album layer and override the "Album Art Width" to 1.5x, then the album art width will be 1.5x for the album that you're currently listening to. These override settings are saved per album, so if you switch to another album, then switch back, the settings you previously had on that album will be restored, which lets you quickly and easily make custom setups on a per album basis.

Important Notes
  • The wallpaper fires up with reduced fidelity for higher performance, you can improve the smoothness and visual quality by opening the settings menu on the very bottom right and increasing the FPS Limit and Post Processing.
  • If the wallpaper is not running well, consider lowering the FPS Limit and Render Scale, and disabling Post Processing.
  • Downloaded album art will be cached on the drive that Spotify Wallpaper was downloaded onto, there is no way to manage this cache at the moment (this will be coming soon).
  • The Waifu2x integration has only been tested on systems with dedicated graphics cards, so using the extension is not recommended if your system does not have one.
  • When installing Waifu2x, do not freeze the wallpaper (for example by maximizing a window), this can make the installation fail. If this happens, restart the wallpaper and try to install it again.

Spotify Wallpaper has taken a long time for me and others to develop and due to the nature of the project, it is difficult to monetize.

There is no way to change the font unfortunately, I was reasonably sure that this font had all the characters needed but I guess it's not the case.

Can I change the font here? When listening to Chinese songs, there will be a lot of things that can't be displayed.I want to add this feature.

Thx!!

@Klo | Vampire

So, this problem should be because the service we get the lyrics from knows of the song, and has some basic info about it, but not the actual lyrics.

So in other words, it shouldn't show up in the list in the first place, bit of an oversight.

I'll add it to my list but cannot promise any ETA, thanks for using the wallpaper!

@Eyliess
There is an issue where some songs don't display lyrics even though it shows them in the options is there a fix for this?

@BRSaura yep.
There's a settings menu on the bottom right, you can disable the spectrum bars from there.
