RA New Features Mod

Description
Check my similar mod for TD.

Made on the basis of More QoL Improvements mod by Rampastring
Some features were ported from CFEPatch Redux for RA mod by Chthon

Balanced and tested with campaigns and custom missions in mind, but works pretty good for Skirmish too.

Most features and stats for units/structures can be tweaked in this INI file
...Steam Folder...\steamapps\workshop\content\1213210\2788134824\ZeroByte's RA New Features\CCData\NEW_FEATURES.INI

Warning - every time this mod gets updated, this INI file is overwritten.
Unfortunately there's no way to avoid this as far as I know. If you change some settings and want to keep them, make a backup copy of the changed INI file.

If this mod crashes for you:
- make sure no other mods are enabled at the same time, to ensure it's not mod conflict
- try to unsubscribe and subscribe again, it helped a few players before

Common features
- A* pathfinding, more convenient walls and other stuff from other popular mods (no A-move yet though)
- Bounty system, enable this setting in the INI file to earn some money for every kill!
- Some cheats were added for testing and fun, all disabled by default (see INI file), like revealing entire map, granting veterancy to selected units, etc.

Veterancy
- 1st level gives +25% damage, +20% health and +1 vision range
- 2nd level gives +25% damage, +20% health and +20% move speed
- 3rd level gives +20% health and unique bonus for every unit (info can be found in discussions)
Defensive structures get reduced bonuses.
Destroyed veteran vehicles often spawn a technician that retains the veterancy. You can put him into another vehicle of the same type to apply this veterancy rank to the vehicle.

Overall balance changes
- Superweapons like Paratroopers and Iron Curtain are buffed a bit so they feel stronger/more important
- Buildings can be placed farther from each other (distance can be set in the INI file)
- Oil derricks and churches can be captured for permanent low-rate income
- Hospitals can be built to grant infantry slow health regeneration
- Having 2+ Service Depots grants slow health regeneration to some tanks
- Custom upgrades (enabled by default, can be disabled in INI file)

Unit balance changes
- In general units shoot 2 cells farther and see 2-3 cells father
- Overall slight rebalance of everything so every unit is useful
- Shock Troopers can charge up Tesla Coils just like in RA2
- Ranger has 1 transport slot for infantry which will shoot from inside (like IFV in RA2)
- Rifle Infantry can be garrisoned in some civilian buildings
- Directional armor gives 25% thicker front armor and 25% weaker rear armor for Light / Medium / Heavy / Mammoth tanks
- Air transport can also carry vehicles (one at a time)

Updated hard difficulty
- on Hard AI units don't have original stats bonuses
- instead AI has 50% cost/time discount on units and AI units gain veterancy much faster
- on Hard AI barracks/factories start producing unit with 1/2 vet-ranks after 10/20 mins
- initial AI forces are randomly given veterancy ranks when mission starts.

Miscellaneous
- Pressing ALT stops fire for selected units

Hey!
1. This property is "Adjacent"

2. Custom upgrades are 10-12 upgrades you can buy, like more armor for tanks, better armor for structures, higher initial veterancy for infantry, machine guns for tanks, auto-repair for aircraft, etc.

Hey so what property modifies how far I can construct buildings next to each other? Also what do custom upgrades do?
AlexTheRedScout 7 Nov, 2023 @ 2:58pm
also you should probably mention you have to start a new campaign first

What do you mean by "it didn't load"?
Campaign started but mod changes (like veterancy) weren't applied?
Or it crashed?
AlexTheRedScout 6 Nov, 2023 @ 2:54pm
zerobyte i went into the campaign myself it did't load with the mod

What do you mean? It can be used to play RA1 campaigns, that's what I made it for as I almost exclusively play campaigns.
AlexTheRedScout 28 Oct, 2023 @ 8:16pm
can this mod be used for the campaign please

I think the issue is that most structures in RA are wood or none, i think main buff would be either change their armor type and adding extra strenght.
And about air repair, i meant helicopters, there is no auto repair option for them.

Actually even rank 3 units do 50% more damage, while this upgrade makes buildings 33% sturdier.
So rank-0 Mammoth does 80 damage, rank-3 Mammoth does 80*1.5 = 120 .
With building armor upgrades this becomes 120 * 0.75 = 90 damage.

90 is just 12.5% more than 80 , so it should largely compensate for veterancy-related damage increase - though not fully, of course.

But I can think if there's something else I can do for this...
