Nicocoko's Speed Reading

Description
Increase your reading speed in style
Have you ever felt bored reading skill books in multiplayer? Have you been watching the slow progress bar creeping forward because you are unable to increase the game speed?
Sure you could increase the server's pages per minute reading setting. But that feels a bit too much like a cheat, doesn't it?
Giving you an advantage without any penalties takes a bit the edge of having skill books at all, no? Well, if that's how you think this mod has you covered.

Description

With this mod you can boost the reading speed of books through the sandbox options.
Additionally, you can decide whether calorie consumption, hunger, thirst and boredom rate should also increase during reading.
With purpose for multiplayer in mind, this mod can bring the closest experience to boost the game speed while reading.

The default settings increase the reading speed by 20. This leads to about a minute of reading time for a 220 page 1st tier skill book.
Also per default, increased consumption rates are active.

Updates

v1.1
  • Added separate multipliers for hunger, thirst, boredom and calorie consumption. This way players can finetune how much increased consumption they want when reading.
  • Take Well-Fed modifier into account when calculating increased hunger rates
  • Change the hunger, thirst and boredom rates to better match the actual vanilla consumption rates

Mod forces itself into my MP even when I do not add it. Makes reading super slow, since I am changing minutes per page option for server to .4. But doesnt take effect since this mod still someone is getting added.

there is no option to just read books quickly, I already set it to the minimum but my character dies of hunger.

@Makk: There should be no problem adding this mod to an existing game. Of course, it needs to be compatible with the other mods. However, even if it isn't I don't think it could really break a save or something. It is a very lightweight mod.

@Hazy Lunar: Sure, go ahead!

Is it safe to add to a multiplayer server mid game?

Hello! :scBunnygirl:
I am the owner of a small community and would like your permission to place your mod in a modpack for my server. Naturally, I'll credit you as the original owner of the mod, along with linking your mod to refer others here. Thank you in advance! :scWitch:

@Broccali:
Ah, ok I see now why you would think that the mod would influence your server. Actually, the reason why you see the options is because you have activated the mod on game launch. Which options you see in the server settings menu is not influenced by the server's mods but rather by the mods you have loaded when starting up the game. You can change these mods in the "Mods" menu (accessible from the main menu).

Having said that, the mod options are shown but they don't have any effect on the server's game. That is because the mod is not loaded in the server. The options have no influence whatsoever on the game. If you don't want to see these options anymore in the server menu, just deactivate the mod in the "Mod" main menu.
