SKV 'Mornfire' Heavy Cruiser

The Mornfire is a heavy, multi-role cruiser capable of deploying alone, even in hostile space, or supplementing Skorvian battlegroups with her varied array of armaments and production facilities. While being of nearly a similar size and tonnage as the Paledawn, the Mornfire offers more utility than her purely combat focused sister, with nearly double the cargo capacity, basic ore refinement capability, and twice the hydrogen production.

Thanks to that utility, the Mornfire is often seen operating in a multitude of capacities, from system defense to deep space patrol, even serving as a fuel tender for other vessels in a pinch. In addition, the vessel also hosts a small, ventral hangar and an aft landing pad, further adding to her versatility.

The Mornfire was developed as the requirements of the Skorvian Imperial Navy evolved along with the Empire's rapidly expanding borders, and the need for capital-class vessel that could do more than simply dominate fleet battles became apparent. Initially, the ship was intended to be capable of conducting operations in atmospheres of up to 1g, however that requirement was quickly rescinded by Skorvian Naval Command with the astronomical cost associated with the capability.
