I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON A NEW MOD SERIES CALLED "SKILL WEAPONS" THAT WILL INCLUDE UPDATED VERSIONS OF ALL CONTENT IN THIS MOD. THIS VERSION OF THE MOD WILL BE KEPT ONLINE TO PREVENT CURRENT USERS FROM HAVING EXISTING SAVED GAMES BROKEN. PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO THE NEW VERSION(S) AS THEY ARRIVE.





////ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION////

All weapons in this modpack have a unique mechanic which allows their damage to be adjusted by the pawn's skill ranks. My original goal for this weapon pack was the creation of high-powered hunting weapons which did not overpower the standard rimworld weapons in all situations. Most weapons in this pack will be inferior to vanilla choices unless the pawn has a decent Animal Skill Rank, at which point many of these weapons become exceptionally powerful. Additionally many of these weapons have lengthy warmup and cooldown times, making them less viable in actual combat.

THE ITEM TAB DOES NOT SHOW THE CORRECT DAMAGE DUE TO THE CUSTOM CODE, ALWAYS CHECK MY WRITTEN IN-GAME DESCRIPTION TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH DAMAGE YOUR PAWN IS DOING. (And hope I didn't forget to update any of the descriptions.)

I consider this mod to be about 70% complete, and it probably lacks polish and balance here and there. Unfortunately my health has been preventing me from adding all of the features I originally planned, and thus I've decided to publish the mod as-is. If you encounter any bugs or have suggestions, I will try to respond to them but I may be very slow.

The "DHC" Weapons are a love letter to the 1999 game "Carnivores 2" which was one of the first hunting games I ever got to play as a kid. Otherwise all weapons in this mod are roughly based on real-world weapons with some creative interpretation on my part.

There is no unique research for the weapons in this modpack. Everything has been attached to vanilla research and will be unlocked alongside other weapons of the appropriate era. (There is however one secret weapon you *should* need to find via quests or similar, assuming I've programmed that correctly.)

"Enable Oversized Weapons" and "Proper Shotguns" are required for this modpack to work as intended. Without proper shotguns the Punt Gun, Howdah Pistol, and DHC Shotgun will not work correctly. These weapons have been carefully balanced with the assumption they will be firing multiple weaker pellets - and without the mod the guns will fire one overpowered bullet instead. The Punt Gun in particular will go from absurdly scattering dozens of ~5 damage pellets to a single ~200 damage shot.

If you like my mod please consider donating a few dollars to a wildlife sanctuary or national park near you! They can always use a bit of extra support.

Finally in the event that future Rimworld updates break this mod, I give full permission to community members to unofficially update this mod until I am able to do so myself.

The 2-Bore has officially been added, called the "Mammoth Gun" in game.

@STG I finished the art for the 2-Bore today. It will be getting introduced in an update, but I'm going to be taking things slowly. Just wanted to let you know that I am making one.

Originally I chose not to put a 2 or 4 bore into this modpack as I felt they would occupy the same niche as the 700. However looking at it now I think I could use some of the punt gun's code to make a high-damage large bore that would occupy a different niche than the 700. I will consider this.

I wanted to thematically stick to hunting weapons, whereas the JDJ is a sporting rifle. If I make a pack of weapons that break your pawn's bones whenever they fire - I would absolutely add a 950. I have no idea what skill I'd attach to the JDJ's damage either - which would make it the only weapon in this pack that doesn't use that.

If you wanted to make your own JDJ mod I'd be happy to do the art for you. (Assuming you like my style.)

was very unexpected to see DHC weapons, just got back into carnivores too with all the mods it now has. Not subscribed to proper shotties but will you make a CE patch?

Not only we now have the Dino Hunt Corp weapons, but also Dinosauria's animals to hunt. The only missing thing is Vanilla Expanded Arcology for the full Carnivores experience.
