Top & Tailed 47's On the Motherwell Circle

Route Required: WCML North

Routes for DLC:- WCML South, South Wales Mainline

DLC for other AI:- Class 303 pk, Class 170 pk, Class 66 pk

PLEASE NOTE: Metropolitan line and Peterborough - York Scenario Pack are NOT required.

Standard scenario
Difficulty medium
Duration 55 mins

Description:- Having arrived from Crewe with a charter train most of your punters have gone on a champagne boat tour on the River Clyde; the rest are now expecting a tour around the local lines (with plenty of glasses of champagne served at their seats!). Take them from Glasgow, go via Motherwell and get back to Glasgow.

Driver notes:- No timings on the route but we have put suggested passing times on the F1 list for some places so the passengers ( And Drivers!) get the best view of the AI.
There are some severe gradients on this route so you will have to watch your speed.

PLEASE NOTE:- This is a fun scenario with Champagne so it is not meant to be realistic. You will encounter AI that may not always be on this route! Possibly a little Southern Coach stock!

I suspect one of the problems in the early days of creating, folks would create scenario's and leave the percentage (player train) at default 75%. (and some put it up to 100% :( )Then if it was only 1 mile between stops they would always fail as they could not get to line speed of 90/100mph and stop at the station.
Quite rightly lots of peeps got miffed!
Especially as some of them were " Career Scenario's" with points stats going begging!
That is why Chris and I, in freight scenario's, just put passing times.
We all drive differently:)

As an aside, I am working on a real life loco that ran from Sheperdswell as an engineering train about 3 months ago on the Dover Chatham etc. I do hope you do not beat me to it!!!!!!!!

I read your comments regarding 'timetabled' passenger trains with interest. Only in the last few weeks I have created timetabled 'Standard' scenarios. I have finally figured out how to get timings that work. They seem to be doing OK, and I haven't had any negative feedback yet. They are all on one of the Chatham Main line routes. Just thought I would let you know. I will be doing more, now I know they are accepted.

Many thanks for playing the scenario and for the very thoughtful comments.
As far as having an operational timetabled run is concerned this is something that divides opinions. Some like it and some don't which it is why Nat and I give suggested times in the F1 task list when necessary. Re the difficulty level we did say in the description notes above that the Difficulty level is "Medium".

Another thoroughly enjoyable scenario. It was good to (quite literally) get off the beaten track and visit areas not normally seen on the WCML North. I think DTG missed a lot of potential when it came to WCML North. Anyway, I also liked the attention to detail and the realistic AI.

However it would be nice if there was an Operational Timetable (like the type you get on realtime trains), although as this was not a schduled passenger train it isn't a neccesity, and you did provide a suggested Timetable. Based on the description and the difficulty level I had expected a few more adverse signals and perhaps a slower passenger train instead. In terms of difficulty I found it Medium.

Despite this (I always try and cover both sides when doing a review) without hesitation I would still give this scenario 5*.
