Description
Retro Target Store | 1960s

Target Stores, Inc was co-founded in 1962 by The Dayton Company and upscale discount pioneer John F. Geisse. The first store was opened in Roseville, MN on May 3, 1962. It is currently the eighth largest retailer in the United States, and one of the largest discount retail chains in the world.

Several store designs were used during this period (e.g. Roseville, [www.flickr.com] Duluth, [superseventies.tripod.com] and Denver. [i.insider.com]) This building is based on the Denver store design, which emerged sometime during the mid-1960s. These Target stores began to disappear during the '80s and '90s, when massive remodels and closures began company-wide.

I model frequently, but this is the first CS asset I've ever made. Compared to others, it's very basic. Initially, I wanted to make this asset to use for myself, but I figured someone out here could use it, too. It's mostly for show, but it does light up pretty nicely at night. The docking bays are just for show. This would make a great addition to a city based anytime after 1962 or before the 2000s.

This is also BYOP (Bring Your Own Parking.) I have small strips of parking along the sides of the building, but they wouldn't be realistic to have alone. So, if you want realism, I suggest something like the Parking Lot Roads Mod as well as Surface Painter, both of which I use religiously.

You can find this under Unique Buildings, and is unlocked at Level 5.

Thanks man. I absolutely love the midcentury designs, especially transportation from then, so hmu if you need any ideas for streetcars/trains/terminals from that time

@Shinyarceusrules50 Good ideas. You'll definitely see more recent stores from me.

This is awesome! You should do some more "recent" but still technically retro stuff, like 1980's and 70's designs. As for other 50s/60s designs, you should do an old H.E.B. like in this photo: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/17383749638_3dcda5e844_c.jpg

@SoldYaBoi You can expect many more stores from me. Hotels aren't really my area of interest, but you never know. Just published a retro Walmart: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2776911586
