Description
Designed for short range, low cost, in-system patrol work, or as a command vessel for a fighter wing, the Chentu class Patrol Boat is a fairly simple, low maintenance vessel. A single operator craft, she is intended for planetary and near-orbit patrol, though a jump drive allows the Chentu to extend its range farther away from its base of operations. Decently well armed and lightly armored, she is nonetheless capable of rapidly responding to a local threat or working as a scout ship. Her only creature comforts are an oxygenated cockpit and an onboard survival kit.

Constructed of light armor with blast door reinforcement, she won't be taking any serious hits. Be that as it may, should she be disabled she is equipped with a pair of emergency parachutes to ensure a safe atmospheric landing. She is also equipped with a self-repair projector for ease of maintenance. Easy maintenance being key, she is not equipped with any reactors, instead using a few batteries and a two Hydrogen Engines for her power source.

Despite her relatively low cost, she brings a decent amount of firepower to the table, with two Gatling Turrets, one Assault Cannon, a pair of Rocket Launchers, and four Interior Turrets. Armed enough to fend off smaller craft and personnel, with some extra punch in the Rocket Launchers and Assault Cannon against anything that could outclass her. On her own, due to her overall fragility the Chentu is not a tremendous threat to an aware vessel of Corvette size or above, but she is cheap and has enough punch to be a surprisingly dangerous foe - especially in numbers.

Most of the usual and customary scripts are loaded, minus the damage display. The Chentu has automatic door closing, a RADAR system that networks with other allied vessels, functional LCD displays, and an improved Artificial Horizon. None are necessary to the function of the vessels, but make use a little easier.

Installed a Jump Drive, swapped out and relocated one gatling turret for an assault cannon turret. Added reinforced conveyors. Replaced the large hydrogen tank with small hydrogen tanks.
