During your attempt to destroy humanity, your plague will mutate by itself. When we are playing as the virus we can not use DNA to devolve these symptoms, so we have to act fast so we do not get noticed to early.

Pop all the bobbles that appear. These are an important sources of DNA points.


That is basically all you need to know, now let's destroy humanity!

The thing about Virus is that it has a very high chance of mutating. During this playthrough you should not devolve any of the mutated symptoms, because it costs DNA to devolve! So we have to act fast and infect everyone before we start to mutate too many noticable symptoms.

The special ability for the virus is Viral Instability which gives the virus an even higher chance of mutation.

When I play as the virus I often start in Saudi Arabia. It has landborders to 3 countries (Iraq, the Middle East and Iran), airport, seaport and a high population which makes it a good starting location because of all the spreading oportunities.

Now wait until you reach your first mutation, it should not take long. When that happens you should have around 12-16 DNA points, use that on Drug Resistance 1.

Wait until you have 21 DNA points and buy Air 1 and Heat Resistance 1

When you have 44 DNA and buy Water 1, Water 2 and Air 2. This should really get your spreading going.

When you have 37 DNA buy Drug Resistance 2 and Genetic Hardening.

When you have about 40 DNA you buy Heat Resistance 2, Cold Resistance 1 and Cold Resistance 2.

When you have 37 DNA get Enviormental Hardening.


This was a very small step...

When you have 30 DNA buy Blood Transmission 1 and Blood Transmission 2

When you have 54 DNA buy Genetic Reshuffel 1 and Genetic Hardening 2

Time for the killing blow! Wait for everyone to be infected and start evolving symptoms.

You should build your way to Total Organ Failure, often you get "muteted" a good way into the symptoms-tree, in the playthrough that I made this guide from, I actually got Total Organ Failure for free. The "path" that I like to take is; Insomnia, Paranoia, Inflammation, Paralysis, Coma and Total Organ Failure.
