Description
The aging Qama class interceptor was a flawed design from day one. A pressing need at the time forced it into the field, but it was bad enough that production runs of the craft were limited. What we have here is the third generation of the Qama, with the second never seeing the light of day.

Fuel range, a massive bugbear of the older namesake, has been mostly resolved. In space, she gets around with a well balanced distribution of hydrogen thrusters. In atmosphere, these are supplemented by several atmospheric thrusters to help keep her airborn and reduce the hydrogen expenditure in a hover, though on an Earthlike environment they are only barely able to provide enough lift. A Fuel Saver Mode was added to slash fuel burn tremendously when in atmospheric environments. Finally, enough fuel is available to provide the sort of range one needs for a true sortie in an atmospheric environment.

Attempts to remedy the original ship's issues with durability have been met. The armor is now a mixed and multilayered configuration, and has been applied to the entire vessel. While light armor protects most areas of the ship, heavy armor paneling is layered on top to protect the vessel's vital core internals. Four decoys, two in each wingtip, attempt to redirect incoming turret fire to less critical locations. In addition, the Qama 3 also utilizes a high visibility self-repair projection overlay, for further ease of maintenance. In case of engine failure, she is equipped with a parachute for emergency landings, and her cockpit comes preloaded with self-defense tools.

Finally, a full range of sensors and avionics have been given to the little ship. The Qama 3 has a more detailed artificial horizon, functional LCD displays, a planetary compass, and a damage overview display. All in all, she's packing quite a lot of brainpower under the hood, backed up with a fist of steel. A superior vessel to the original Qama in virtually every way that matters.

The Prime variant of the the Qama 3 carries six Gatling guns, backed up by a spread of six Autocannons, as well as a pair of Railguns. This mixed configuration was intended to ensure it almost always has the right weapon for the right quarry. It also covers multiple overlapping optimal ranges, allowing a careful pilot to initiate with railgun fire at long range, use the Autocannons at medium range, and have the option to turn into an industrial shredder with the Gatlings at short range.

Updated the name convention, and installed a damage display.

Removed the RADAR, but kept the block unused and powered down in the ship for future scripts that might catch anyone's eye. Also, added a Fuel Saver Mode to the ship to slash hydrogen burn rate down by about 50% in atmospheric flight.

Swapped out the small reactors for a large reactor, which put energy in the budget for additional atmospheric thrusters.
