OSHIKA Class Cruiser (IY 156) [Inari Empire]

Description
Description

An overhaul of the Oshika Class Cruiser, improving on its strengths and remedying its weaknesses as much as possible while retaining its core concept and identity. Now optimised for long-range combat, the Oshika Class excels at engaging from afar while avoiding incoming fire. Despite this, it remains a competent close quarters vessel, able to deal large amounts of damage while also being very survivable in the hands of a good pilot.

Lore

The Oshika Class Cruiser originally entered service 131 years after the Inari Empire's founding, as a flexible platform that would fill the sparsely populated Inari fleets of the time. Despite being a peacetime design, impeded by bureaucracy and lack of expertise along the design process, the core philosophy of the ship proved very effective in combat. Through many refinements, upgrades and retrofits, and with experience gained in war, the Oshika Class became a highly competent and focused platform that even surprised Inari leadership with its capability.

Two decades of service later, to bring the Oshika Class into the new era of space combat, Inari leadership commissioned a full modernisation of the platform. 25 years after the cruiser's introduction, in Inari Year 156, the new iteration was put into full scale production along with vast amounts of existing ships being retrofitted to the new specification. The IY 156 Oshika Class currently serves within the Inari Sphere of Influence as the core unit of its fleets, a focused yet flexible warship revered among allies and commanding respect from those it faces.

Fair point...
I am a small-grid guy, so I don't have that perspective 😅

@Marcusinfestus I like the Cobra, it's design really makes it look like a zero G ship. My only issue with carriers is kinda their combat effectiveness in SE - I like my ships to be genuinely effective in combat. Since it's hard to get lots of players together, and large grid weapons are just *better*, I prefer just not bothering with small grid combat craft outside of atmosphere

I love your builds man. I have a snub fighter that might compliment this style of cap ship. Have a look at the Cobra fast attack boat, (I was thinking of LOGH when I designed it) maybe it will inspire a carrier? Keep crank'n!
