Uniforms of the German Democratic Republic: Over the Years
11 items
Description
This pack depicts the Uniforms of the Landstreitkräfte from 1974-1981/2. This is the "Uniform Transition" period of the NVA, in which NVA was transitioning to open-collar style uniforms. I took the liberty of creating a full uniform guide to explain each of the many uniforms, you are not at all required to read it, but you can find it here [docs.google.com].

The Land Forces of the National People's Army (German: Landstreitkräfte der Nationalen Volksarmee), or NVA, was the armed forces of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). In 1974, a need to modernize the uniforms of the National People's Army was recognized by the state council of the GDR. This resulted in the creation of brand-new open-collar uniforms that were issued throughout the 1970s. Most soldiers would however continue to wear the earlier "closed collar" uniforms until 1982. The NVA-Land went through several major uniform changes, most notably in 1961, 1974, and 1983.

This Pack Includes:
A Service Uniform for all rank groups
A Trench Coat Variant for all rank groups
A Parade Uniform for all rank groups
A Field Uniform for all rank groups
A Service Shirt Uniform for all rank groups

More uniform variations, including paratroopers, military police, staff service uniforms, etc are all planned to be made into an "additional" pack.

Uniform Design is based off of written works from former NVA General Officers

NPCs with both Combine and civilian animations would be good. Do you plan on making late 80s UTV uniforms?

Hey, the uniform guide google docs link seems to be broken, could you update it?

Hello friend,

In our uniform guide we concede that the uniform equipment (among other things such as piping color) is not 100% correct. However, we made more of a conscious effort on the Grenztruppen pack to have more accurate kit (With stuff like the gas mask bag still missing). We will likely go back and update this pack with the (semi) corrected kit of the Grenztruppen pack within the next couple of months when we revisit the Land Forces for some accuracy updates.

The right, rear side should actually have just the canteen, with the left side having the entrenching tool, which had a vinyl gray cover, the Strichtarn covers were used by Fallschirmjagers. The uniforms are also missing Kragenbinde, and a chemical suit carrier. Last but not least, it is also lacking the gray vinyl gasmask bag, as well as perhaps a gasmask option under bodygroups. Other than that they are the best East German models on the workshop! I really appreciate your hard work for this addon to exist. I never really thought I'd see the day where there'd be dedicated East German models, before this, it was just cringe, and farb WW2 reskins. I really love this mod, and series.

First of all, this addon pack is great, I really appreciate it. However, I have some constructive criticism, it's just that the field gear isn't accurate. I myself reenact East German NVA, and Grenztruppen, and have studied for a few years about East German field gear. The magazine pouch should be on the shooting hand side (right side) of the belt, with a bayonet fixed to the left hand side of the belt. On the back there shouldn't be a breadbag, the breadbag was used only early on (1950s).
