CatchUp

Description

CatchUp

When authors update their items, Steam is to deliver them to us. Yet, it sometimes does not do so, leaving ours outdated.

Purpose of CatchUp is to automatically download updated items, whenever Steam does not deliver.

At game start, and when CatchUp is being enabled, if updates are detected, this mod would auto restart the game to effect the changes.

If Steam is reluctant to take down old files while game is restarting, CatchUp would auto close it to let that happen. In such case, just manually start and download would resume.

Work in progress...

CatchUpPlus - an optional extension adding functionalities to CatchUp.

- Report: Shows history of what updates Steam delivered and else CatchUp supplemented.

- Revert: In the event user finds any updated item not desirable, can revert it to the previous version.

- Persist: User can pick items to be excluded from being updated by CatchUp, till it is unpicked. Though CatchUp cannot stop Steam from updating any item from v1 to v2, when that happens to an excluded one, auto reverts v2 to v1.

- Scavenge: Removes redundant folders/files in 255710 directory, with user option per item to preserve. Credit: macluk.

Would love this mod if it didn't make the game crash when I loaded it up. Does this conflict with any other mods?

Mod crashes game

@UguuDoki I just had a crash, when I tried to adjust font size with Font Selector. Thinking that I have found "the" problematic mod, I unsubscribed and tried to load again the recent save... Nope. I had the same crash, right after the successful loading.

So from 20 loads, I can start to play with approx. 1 time. This is 5%. Meanwhile I have ordered from my IT department new memory (128GB), since I failed [ibb.co] to do a windows memory test.

Meanwhile I will search for the dependencies with your new mod and I will stay hungry and stay foolish.

Sorry I have not yet gone through your last files, as I was immobilized by an infection midway making RequiredItems, a mod you inspired.

Now that the mod is ready, instead of treading the old path I would recommend you follow this.

First, easiest, reproduce a crash, then apply Save Our Saves to see if it is fixed.

If not, then somewhat difficult, use RequiredItems to try identify any missing dependencies.

Rather than a specific mod, crashes may result from conflicting combinations, so the last resort is one that nobody favors. Remove all mods while keeping all assets, add some mods a time to narrow down a possible culprit. Retaining that one, remove all other mods and start the narrowing down again to find another possible accomplice. If you want to figure out whether there are more, then use the identified ones as base in turn.

Here is the recent save of PazarCity5, which fails to get loaded: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2809304578

So something is about city setup or an asset that is not there in the "new game"+"empty map" loading. So I do not have the method yet to get ingame, and I see no reason, yet.

Removing Service Vehicle Selector 2 did not help, the crash was right there after the loading procedure finished. Actually, the loading time is approx. 6-7 minutes, the loading of the mods and assets has finished at 1:45. [ibb.co]See the output.txt here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1y84cYTp0xyQsz1ikcteAKSBjnrjWdiI3

So, as an experiment, I started a new game on a new map, with the 200 mods and the 10k assets and it was loading just fine, see the gamesave and see the output.txt here (output_log_NEWMAP.txt): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1H4xOC6A2TDGGUpDaDRrgmltpqHcKf6IM

Then I quit and started reloading the recent save of PazarCity5, and it again crashed. Its output.txt here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/17qVHQcTCTLj7pe2QKrSzqnwsdt0Oae4u

@UguuDoki yes, Master.

@StayHungryStayFoolish No evidence of crash. Missing Prop Line Tool is not a culprit. But if you are anxious about some unidentified item failing to load Prop Line Tool, then just subscribe to it, have it disabled, and that specific "Assembly resolution failure" will go away, afterwards you can observe whether the crash still occurs. Also, you can see if removing Service Vehicle Selector 2 helps.

@UguuDoki this is my actual working output.txt (sorry, I do a lot of backups, but I have switched off Adaptive Network - since I have no that kind of road). So this output.txt works. The crash one looks the same. Yes: the same.

Usually, I am able to have the game loaded, if I load a new game, quit, and then load my recent save. Then I can play for days, without any problem, and I can also hibernate my PC.
