Cards you should get before get into ranked games.

I'm going to classify the cards as high priority, medium priority and low priority, the high priority ones are essential for you to be able to do well in ranked games, the medium priority ones are cards that are good but not as necessary and the low ones are in specific match-ups when they add side deck or if your deck requires (According to my opinion, feel free to add yours and help people). So let's go.

If you REALLY want to ignore the meta I recommend playing YGO Omega GOAT format. That only had older cards. Duel Links also isnt a bad option either since it nerfs most of the OP stuff. Although the meta there can have its own issues but all metas will.

There will always be strong meta cards no matter what. If all of these cards are op and nobody uses them or they get banned a new set of cards will just take their place. Also these cards most of them COUNTER the meta. You would use them to stop people from doing insane combos and filling the board with even more busted stuff. These staples arent different from classic staple cards either. Old school cards we all love like Monster Reborn, Change of Heart, Raigeki, Harpie's Feather Duster, Mirror Force, Sangan were big meta cards too. If you hate these current meta staples you basically have to hate all meta staples the game has ever had.

I'm not trying to out you on this because I actually get it. I hate meta Yugioh too. I miss older formats and cards, but blasting staples instead of actual problematic archetypes and powercreepl isn't the way to go about it. It comes off as more hypocritical and "Boomer" which people won't take seriously.

Here's the quicker version ->conform to the meta like a boring unoriginal loser with shit cards because theyre op an shouldnt be in the game.

Or you can ignore the cards you "need" and make yugioh better.

I would personally only rate Ash, Maxx C, Crossout and Called By as High. Simply as they are the Maxx C minigame.

Everything else is dependant on your deck and whats good against meta.

You have go 2nd Board breakers like Feather Duster, Lightning Storm, Evenly Matched and Dark Ruler No More.

Floodgates if your deck can play them.

Additional hand traps like Gamme, Nibiru, Veiler, Imperm
