Corrupt the Spire

Omschrijving
Encounter corrupted rooms throughout the Spire that provide new challenges, gain powerful corrupted cards and corrupted relics, and see how the double-edged sword of corruption empowers both you and your foes. Make bargains with alien forces, see beyond the Spire, and wield the power you obtain against all who stand in the way of your eternal quest. Can you survive the corrupted Spire?

Corrupt the Spire adds variety and challenge to Slay the Spire through a new corrupted room mechanic. Rooms through the Spire will be corrupted (indicated by a small icon on the map). Entering a corrupted room will add to Corruption, a global value which increases the difficulty of enemies. In return, the room will be modified in exciting ways:
  • Fights: Enemies will have additional powers, or there will be additional enemies in the fight, or the fight will be a special corrupted fight, and additional rewards will await you at the end of the fight.
  • Events: You will find corrupted and chaotic events, which offer greater benefits than most other events, or a small benefit on top of a normal event.
  • Campfires: A second set of corruption-related options will be available in addition to the normal campfire options, along with a way to reduce corruption... for a price.
  • Shops: The shop will sell something unusual, ranging from new corrupted relics and corrupted cards to cards from different characters.
  • Treasures: There will be more or different treasure, or something unusual and rewarding.

The number of corrupted rooms increases in each act, reflecting the increase in corruption as you approach the heart of the Spire.

Be warned that Corrupt the Spire affects the balance of the game. The corruption mechanic creates another way that enemy difficulty scales, which means that players have to make use of the corrupted options to increase their strength as well, or carefully manage the rate at which corruption is gained. Your initial runs will likely be more challenging than the base game as you learn the new mechanics.

Corrupt the Spire includes:
  • Corrupted cards, a powerful new color of card gained through corrupted rooms (38 cards)
  • Corrupted relics, powerful new relics gained through corrupted rooms (20 relics)
  • Three new normal fights encountered in corrupted rooms
  • Four new elite fights (found in corrupted rooms... you'll have to figure out which ones)
  • Two new act 3 bosses and one new act 2 boss encountered through corrupted room outcomes
  • Four new enemies that appear in corrupted fights
  • 24 new events, 8 new event relics, 5 new colorless cards, and 5 new corrupted potions, all found through corrupted rooms

Corrupt the Spire has full Bestiary integration for the enemies it adds. With Bestiary running, you can Shift + Right-Click enemies to see an overlay explaining their moves. If you want to play at high ascensions I recommend this as a good way to plan for what enemies do.

Corrupt the Spire has Relic Stats integration as well.

The corruption counter gets added after most of the other things that show up in the top right (since whether or not you have it is on a per-run basis), so it'll be at the end most of the time. It's set up the same way as other mods that display information that isn't always on, like Packmaster.

If you're seeing a gap/blank spot, the most likely reason is another mod that has something off with its logic for displaying information in the top right. For example, adding a blank display even when it should be inactive.

Is the corruption tracker at the top hard coded to be at the end? It leaves a gap between it and other mods trackers if there are many of them

@Mumei: In my testing, when I take either the gold or the key from the corrupted treasure, the other one disappears. It's possible you have some other mod running that's messing this up or conflicting with Corrupt the Spire's logic.

While a lot of this is conceptually fun, in the end the corrupted cards end up just breaking any possible difficulty that the corruption difficulty provides. Custom decks already tend to be unbalanced, and Corruption just makes that even more of an issue. An option to increase difficulty or reduce the likelyhood of Corruption card drops might be worth considering.

following card is some overbalance. "Intangible" is powerful buff which ignores all attacks against enemies and self-hp lose in one turns. so Astral Gust must be adjusted.

new Card; 1; Astral Gust; Attack; Deal 11 damage to ALL enemies, Shuffle 1 Apparition, Miracle, and Slime into your draw pile. Exhaust.
